That is EU law.  And the Tory government was (I think) the only country to vote against it in 1993.

I'm all in, just want to make sure people are arguing "in" for the right reasons.

I wish the media would help with the right reasons - I watched 20 minutes of news just now and despite having a reasonable grasp of it all (though learning all the time) I got bored with all the politicians so very fast. How someone who needs to learn is supposed to do that I really don't know.

The BBC usually do good summaries

"Brexit" is even worse than "chillax," "jeggings" or any of the other contractions used colloquially. I hate them all, but "brexit" is the evil to end all evils.

I completely agree- although i would say contemporary phrase "netflix and chill" just about tops it it terms of being the face of true evil

I'm not really a fan of Gove or any of his policies and the ways he goes about things. So it surprises me little that he is part of the leave team.

I personally will not enjoy the lead up to the referendum due to the nastiness of the Scottish one a year or so ago. Both sides behaved like children with the SNP verging on nationalistic nutters. Hope it doesn't come down to that here but I'm sure it will, putting a slight divide in communities.

Lets enjoy the slow tedious ride of politicians arguing like children for their own over inflated egos and self importance.

Another conspiracy theory about the date of the referendum, ffs does this assume that 140,000 peopl are too stupid or lazy to register the postal vote! I would be more concerned about the larger number of football fans watching the euros who cant be arsed to vote as they're too pissed. Politics bores me now but that doesnt mean I would not vote. I am voting for IN largely due to the fact an OUT vote would cause issues for the company I work with who have frachisees throughout the EU.

Look at the 'big' names who wants out.

Look at the 'big' names who want in.

And then think about which ones you agree most with over other issues.

I reckon that could be quite enlightening for many. :)

There's enough odious people on either side. Plenty of Tories, Jeremy Hunt, Cameron, Theresa May etc are in. But on the other side you have Farage, IDS, Gove, George Galloway, probably Boris.

Labour whose views would most closely match the average person on this forum are in, but Corbyn is arguably more suspicious of the EU than most of his party. I would think his personal views are more towards out than he's letting on.

In case anyone is interested in gambling / odds etc.  The odds of us staying in the EU sank from 72.5% to 65.8% after the news of Boris Johnson's choice to campaign for out.

How fucked up is the world when that clown is considered to have that much influence?

Betting markets are like financial markets, they always over-react to news and purely because this is the first piece of news that has come out since the referendum date announcement and it's from a conservative member, it's pushed the pricing far.

On the bright side, i made £183 from it!

I don't think it's an over-reaction, Boris is somehow a popular politician and if he plays a leading role in the race then it's going to be  a lot tighter than previously thought.
