That's the one I'm after this year.

Hopefully I can figure out where to order it and get it on the way off the plane 😅

I'm gunna take it back to Canada with me afterwards..  those ones are like $350 here for some odd reason

Have you already got your travel tickets and transfers sorted? Hopefully there’s potential for you to meet up with a friendly forum member on the way who could have your tent ready for you

Not yet 😬 that might make things easier, but I still need to figure out my plans!

I’m working the festival and will be camping next to JPT. I’m more than happy to have your tent delivered to me and I’ll take it down for you. You could pick it up when you come through the gate if that helps

Really?? That's so kind! I think I will probably take you up on that... I'll send you a message when I have things sorted!

No problem. Just drop me a message when you’re sorted.

I'm a bit late to this chat, but intrigued. Are we saying the one below is probably the best value? (it'll be just me in it). Gonna check on my tent from 2019 but tbh, I'm tempted to just invest in something like this

If you're tempted by one of the inflatable ones (they are easy to put up/down), be warned that the pump is massive!

How big is massive? I’m tempted by one and a friend brought one with him last time, I don’t remember seeing an overly large pump? I don’t remember seeing any pump tbh

It depends how you define 'best value'. The cheapest F&B tent is the two person regular (ie non-popup) tent for £50, £30 less than the one you listed. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/2-person-blackout-poled-tent-mh100-fresh-black/_/R-p-313100?mc=8576112&c=BROWN_BEIGE

It should however be noted that '2 person' tents are often too small for two people to share, particularly Decathlon's tents which have very little porch space. Therefore, if there's any chance that you might be sharing your tent with someone else in the next five years (or however long the tent lasts) then you might consider stretching to the '3 person' versions (regular £65, popup £100). This costs you a little more upfront, but saves you buying another new tent later.

Just measured mine, it's about 55cm tall and 20cm wide.

Spend the little bit more for the three man (even as solo) to not regret the life choice, I got the three man last week, initial review - it’s pretty dark inside

Thank you both for the info.

I really want this tent because it seems a good size and the F&B bit. One thing I really, really hate about camping anywhere is not being able to stand up (even at least mostly) and not having somewhere to sit that’s not the bedroom. Being 6ft 4 it is difficult to find one I can stand up all the way in that isn’t huge and stupidly heavy. Any thoughts? 15kg seems pretty reasonable to me.

thats pretty much the one I have but a newer model  .... very easy setup .... just peg and then pump up the airbeams .... love it ...

Thats great then! I think I’ve made my choice mostly down to the ‘inflatableness’ of the tent - I was always going to get F&B - as I personally despise the effort it takes to put a tent up when it is absolutely boiling (we usually have about 6 tents to erect with three people doing it while others arrive by coach).

Oddly enough I bought the standard (not air pump) version of the 4 man Fresh & Black yesterday after randomly finding it for £30 less (inc. delivery) at Next rather than Decathlon themselves.

Bargain at £167 (plus £4 delivery) tbh

That’s really quite good ennit? It has given me food for thought.

I've gone for one of these:

https://www.blacks.co.uk/15986790/eurohike-cairns-3-dlx-nightfall-tent-15986790

Bit roomier than that popup for the same price.  I've used the Eurohike Avon as my festival tent for the last 20 years, has always been a good, easy to pitch and hardy tent.  This is the next model down, but with blackout.  Basically just a slightly smaller porch area with a decent sized sleeping area.

I don't have one of these - but I am howling that this thread has 24 pages. Every one I see at Glastonbury I'm gonna be like - ahuh, efester... Get Decathlon down here right now Neil and claim your sponsorship money!!! 😂

You could tell the efesters before these were made as they had their tents covered in space blanket 'emergency shelters' from poundland! Could genuinely spot mine from the other side of site on a sunny day! If this does the same without acting like a mirror directing the sun across site, I'm in!

Also a bonus that it doesn't sound like you're sleeping in a bag of crisps.

😄

The best use for space blankets is under your sleeping mat, imo.

Why? Insulation?

I’m a similar size and given up on the idea of taking a tent I can carry on my back as I get the coach. I do have the cheap 3 man Arpenaz. I sleep in it diagonally. Room for a double airbed and still space for my stuff.

This is only blackout and not the fresh part so you will boil in the morning if its a heatwave
