Camper Van ticket - name transfer help

Hoping someone can give me some feedback for my camper van conundrum...

There are 6 of us in our group, tickets ordered by myself as I was the lucky one hitting refresh. Since then ordered 2x camper van East tickets, one in my name and one in a mates name as we are taking 2 vans (one being mine) to the festival.

Since then myself and a mate are now going to Euro 2016 and coming back late on Wednesday so the other 4 plan on going up on the Wednesday in both vans and we will take a car and meet them on the Thursday.

The question is that SEE tickets have advised I CANNOT transfer the name of my camper van ticket to my mate as they say the 'lead booker' needs to be present? Thats why I am trying to change the name!

I understand the new system of tickets being tied to a festival ticket to stamp out touting, however I cant see why we cant change the name to someone within our initial party of 6 - SEE can see that the transfer will be to one of the registration numbers in our original booking?

Cant see why I get penalised for being a 'lead booker' and I have to be there on entry - it doesn't make sense to me?

Thanks for listening, appreciate anyone who has experience or wisdom to share on this one.

I'd try phoning See again (and perhaps again and again and again), and ask to speak to a manager about it.

The standard rule is that transfers aren't allowed to stop touting, but given how this is a move of CV tickets within your own booking group, anyone who is applying a bit of common sense to the rules and who has the authority to make changes should be able to understand that this isn't touting and will hopefully make that change for you.

It's unlikely that a standard operator would do it for you, as they're likely to have been told there's to be no exceptions to the rules.

Good luck. :)

I'm sure in reality your mates tell them you'll be there after the campervan arrives will surfice.

It's a crap rule,  I can't see them stopping your mates getting in with valid tickets. The camper field people are all nice guys just there to enjoy the festival too.

It's a new system this year and the person who booked the camper van ticket needs to be there on entry with the camper van or they wont let you in as the camper van ticket is tied to the festival ticket. It's to stop the camper van tickets for for hundreds of £s like they have in previous years.

But it's always going to happen for what ever reason that person who books the camper arrives later.

Its not really a "crap rule" - given that campervan tickets were changing hands for in excess of £600 quid last year something needed to change.  The predicament this poster finds himself is unfortunate and does just need a bit of common sense rather than a rules in rules approach - good luck finding that at see :(

I can see why it came in.  I managed to get a camper ticket off eBay last year at face value. I wouldn't pay much over the odds for one, I hate total profiteering!

Thanks for all the feedback to the question.

In the end I managed to locate a helpful contact at See who has sorted it out for us.

For anyone in a similar predicament - See eventually agreed to cancel and refund the camper van ticket under my name behind the scenes, then reallocated the ticket to my friend who will be driving my van.

Can get on with looking forward to June. Cheers.
