pick up cold crates of beers at festival?

I remember seeing at T in the park you could order cold crates of beers and pick them up there, do they do the same at Glastonbury?

Been a couple of times but always took a car and filled it up. Getting bus this time to trying to pack light! But defo can't go without at least 2 or 3 crates for back at the tent lol

any advice from fellow bus travellers would be welcome!

Also anyone getting the national express from Glasgow? party on the 11pm bus or is a sleepy affair?

No such arrangements at Glastonbury, I'm afraid, despite lots of people thinking it's a good idea. The trick seems to be to take spirits, and buy cold mixers at the bars/shops. Beers/ciders keep quite cold in a bucket of water or under the tent groundsheet - not fridge-cold, but cold enough to not be horrible!

Assuming you've not been to Glastonbury before? Here's some wonderful news for you: you can take your own booze wherever you want - there's no 'arena', so you don't need to stay back at the campsite drinking!

I've been before, just never bussed it down so always had a car full of booze and were able to fill a rucksack every day to wander round with without fear of spillage rather than getting them from the bars.

just 2 of us going this year I'm afraid, we'll just need to struggle with it :wacko:

I think its amazing glasto let you take your own booze! T in the P is such a rip off!!!!!

thanks for the replies guys, just need to take more boxes of wine than beer lol xxxx

Box of wine, red get one of the back packs that holds your drink with straw I think they are called mules

Camelbak M.U.L.E 3.0L - 2015

walk round all day drinking your wine. no spillage and easier to carry. If  you really do need Lager find someone who is going and get them to take it in their car for you. all you need to do is meet them in the car park and carry it in.

Get on site this weekend and bury a few crates where you plan to camp, then just make sure you get your tent right on top come June. Cut a flap in your tent, dig the beer out and dispose of the dirt by walking round the site releasing it from your trouser legs. Sorted.

Got the 11pm Glasgow bus last year and thought I was in for at least a couple of hours of chat, music and drinks (was traveling alone) nope.....lights off and quiet about 30 min after setting off! Was glad a nice young lass sat next to me! We had a good few drinks (and hushed chat) then crashed out about 2/3am

my boyfriends sister lives nearby so she could bury some for me and give me a map :D

I'm half hoping the coach will be a rabble for a couple hours then a wee sleep then a 5 day rabble when we get there lol.

Hey I managed to get a ticket in the original sale this year so driving down, been unlucky the last few so plumped for coach tickets.  The bus is v convenient, especially when you have mates to take the heavy stuff for you!

Hey

We sometimes get a taxi down to the Tesco's and get a few crates of Beer.  If a few of you's chip in it doesn't cost that much!  Just go at a time where you avoid the queues coming back in!  I travel down on the Tuesday, and get a Taxi down as soon as we get off of the Bus.  I also bought a cool box last year too, filled it with water and our Beers were nice and cold.  Not ice cold, but enjoyable. :-)

Is there no on-site market or shop that sells crates of lager? Seen there was one at Leeds festival last year, expensive mind you. Think I'll be on the 11pm bus from Glasgow as well, hopefully it's not lights off and silence by 12...

There is but you have to be a registered Trader to get access as its trade only - sorry.Last time the WBC sold cases of lager was in 2010 as they were showing football in a area where there was no bars.

Your best plan is to bring some ' in a covered bag ' - as you enter though Gate A drop the bag off at the nearest lock Up { which is close to that gate } and then go and pitch your tent and then at a later stage go back to pick up some cans - saves all the hassle of trying to shift it all in one go.

in 2014 we met some local lads selling crates of lager off a shopping trolley near the Glade. 3 cans for a £5.  were quite cold too.  they had loads of crates with them, was all a bit cloak and dagger

well it would have been because if they get caught they would be tossed out as its a breach of the licence - I am sure they would have been attached to a stall they would be able to shift the cans in a van that had onsite access - in the 80's it was dead common as every second person you walked past was either selling drugs or drink - saw many a fight break out as they ' all claimed their own patch ' - these days there is special patrols of Security looking out for drink sellers as MDC is not keen on unlicensed sellers.

Nope. BYO, or get the shuttle to Shepton to buy. You'll find a LOT of things at Glastonbury are different to Leeds Festival. (For the better!)

the reason for the covered bag is due to the Coach - if its very busy the driver will be on the watch for people not carrying none essential items and for sure in the past some people have had to dump stuff.

I have no idea how busy the Glasgow coach is { I left Glasgow in the 70's } but its always best to assume it will be busy so to save all the hassle just place cans in a bag.

this is a short video showing how the Lock ups work { its free but many people will donate something }

they were happily selling for a good few hours, definteily weren't attached to any stall

well if they were cold then the odds are they are attached to a trader and they wont advertise where there stash is - Amazingly its only after they caught a trader selling back door entry to the festival has Security increased in 2015 - before then a van with a onsite pass was hardly looked at - a trader could drive in full of cans and no one would be any the wiser - sure they could be storing them in the public car park but its a lot of effort - we will never know for sure.
