Who's been playing with Wikipedia?

Gillian Lesley Gilbert (born 27 January 1961) is an English musician, keyboardist, guitarist and singer, best known as a member of New Order, a founding member ofThe Other Two and the first man to ever successfully cross breed a frog with a gorilla. Otherwise known as a "Frogilla". The Frogilla - who he named Ian - was due to be a passenger on United Airlines Flight 93 but was refused entry at the gate as his passport was out of date.

nah, I said a better slot.

I enjoyed that slot although was lucky to see them due to the change. Went to have bite to eat in the park and listen to the American guy on before them. sat down and had a bite then thought ello this sounds familiar so grabbed food and legged up the slope.

Added bonus with that was that had time to go and see Motorhead after :)

The whole "lack of female headliners" thing, I'm not sure I get it. Do people really think there is a male-bias? I'm pretty sure that Glastonbury would have booked a female as a headliner if they were popular enough, cheap enough and just as importantly, available at that particular time. Which other female acts/artists could have headlined over the years that meets that criteria?

That aside (there's probably a thread for that subject), I think Adele would/will be a triumph. Not my thing, and I'll be elsewhere but I fully expect to get home on the Monday after and read how well received the show was.

Who else are you excited about? Which other female artists?
We've booked some really interesting African women as well as some great British women who are doing very well at the moment. Obviously I can't really tell you names because it's all a bit secret… Bands like Savages are great. Grimes. And obviously Wolf Alice are doing really well, that's brilliant to see. Laura Mvula I love.

There's one particular British woman that's doing quite well at the moment too, of course
Of course… We love Adele. She's an incredible artist and brilliantly honest and funny and real and that's what everybody loves about her. She's a great example because she doesn't put up any pretence. There's a certain pressure on women to perform in a certain way or be giving off this kind of image, while Adele is just honest and true and funny and just about as popular as you can get.

She'd be a good headliner...
She would, wouldn't she? It would be great to get her…

Surprised none of you picked up on the obvious coded message.  Going to be great seeing them there again.

Interesting.... from last year:

Quote

Festival organiser Emily Eavis has commented on rumours that the group will top the bill at Worthy Farm in June.

"I'd love to have Florence," Eavis told NME.

"I love Florence and also it would be great to have her on the Pyramid Stage, she's never played there before."

She added: "I think she could headline, definitely. I don't know what she's doing this summer but I think she's big enough, for sure."

Florence Welch has said that she's "waiting for that phone call" about headlining Glastonbury 2015.

Radiohead to headline, Adele to sub?

Please...

Sad to say that about the Brit school, my daughter went there and my youngest goes on Saturdays. You may not understand this but most people in entertainment have trained somewhere before they made it, the Brit school provide tuition for kids whose parents are not that well off and it's an incredibly creative place.

hey, I've got three family members who have been thru it ... one of whom has been on a TV near you quite a lot in recent years, and also played at at-least one major festival!

Brits school has never produced anyone of the slightest interest to my very wide and varied musical tastes and very much doubt it ever will its the worst kind of Simon Cowellesque, media hyped and airbrushed of all guts and heart (Adele, Rizzle Kicks, The Feeling, The Kooks etc etc ) the many are welcome too it as its all they seem to want, just leaves me cold, Thom Yorke, Ian Curtis, Neil Tennant, Shaun Ryder etc cant "sing" for toffee but entertain me far more than any of these production line acts will, as for being on a TV near me quite alot again I doubt it looking at the list of Brit alumni listed on wikipedia, bar the actress Cush Jumbo and Actor Tom Hardy, anyone else listed I avoid like the plague but thats just my opinion which means no more or less than anyone elses.

I have some sympathy for your view, but a have a couple of points to make:

  • Thom Yorke can sing very well.
  • Amy Winehouse went the to Brit school.  She's not Cowellesque.

* I think thom can sing but I'm sure plenty would disagree, to me his vocals almost act like another instrument rather than singing per se.

* I detest Amy Winehouse with a passion I know she went there but beyond that I try to know as little about her as possible.

Also, Ed Sheeran didn't got to Brit school and he's as Brit School as they come.

You're more than entitled to take interest in whoever you like.  You are, however, wrongly believing that all Brit school output is of one kind. ;)

Maybe it does produce some decent music however none of it is yet to come to my notice, as  for Sheeran couldnt agree more cant stand him, think Frank Turner is 10 times the artist, cant believe he sells out Wembley Arena let alone the Stadium 3(?) times over. `

Frank Turner does not appeal to teenage girls. Ed Sheeron does.

well that's the thing ... the band I know of would be unlikely to describe themselves as a Brit School band.

I've no idea if more than one of them went there anyway, so why should they? But as far as I know, they tried to trade only off their music and nothing else. (I don't think they exist any more, cos acting commitments got in the way).

May I suggest using a full stop once in a while?

Got a soft spot for them Rizzle Kicks fellas. I mean, it's shite, but sort of endearing all the same.
