I'm presuming its still too early but the forecasts appear to be improving,do they not? Any of the forecasts that attempt to show exact condition at specified period more than 48 hours out will always be unreliable however what we can do this far out is look at the way what is being modeled in terms of general weather systems for the sw uk, and look for correlation between multiple model runs (which indicates a reasonable degree of confidence in what those models are predicting). There's no doubt that conditions are currently on a downward trend (the models have been pretty confident of this for at least a week) but things should start to improve from Wednesday, when we should see a high pressure system coming in that will see things improve gradually into the early part of festival week (there is good degree of confidence for this scenario) and I'm currently reasonably confident that we should see good conditions at least for the opening of the festival, unfortunatley confidence from that point forward is not good, it's unlikely right now that things will get as bad again as they will be in the early part of the upcoming week and as thing stand at the moment it looks to me like it could be anywhere in between great and ok. amfy
I've noticed a pattern over the years of the IOW festival getting opposite weather to Glastonbury. So many years I have watched them bathed in sunshine & then arrived on the farm a couple of weeks later to a mud bath. Then, when the sodden festival goers on the island are being hauled out of the mud by tractors, we arrive at Glastonbury a couple of weeks later and all is well with life the universe and everything. I haven't watched any IOW this year, but here in Birmingham over this weekend, the relentless downpours have repeatedly been described in this house as 'Glastonbury rain'. That kind of rain I think I only really used to notice at Glastonbury, where a grey murk gradually appears over the hill and then it's akin to being in a cold power shower. The kind of rain that absolutely hammers on the roof of your tent so hard you worry that it will collapse under the weight of it. well that was this weekend - so Glastonbury will be fine fine fine! Have fun!
Thunderstruck
The models this morning look quite promising. Still hard to tell for sure but certainly high pressure looks to arrive next weekend, will it strengthen it's hold into glastonbury? Many runs suggest this but there's still a long way to go. I'm using the opportunity of mud and r**n to give my walking boots a dry (wet) run in small festival conditions. Won't be anywhere near the same of course, given the relative smallness and flatness of Victoria Park, but it's a nice way to christen them. Or something. Hopefully it will be an unnecessary test and they'll not see much in the way of mud and r**n at Glastonbury!

Dave_c
At the end of the day as long as we don't get rainfall of biblical proportions it will be fine. I always camp near the top of a slope just in case. If you have proper waterproof gear and a tent with a porch it really isn't a big deal. Yes a weekend of sunshine would be bliss, but chances are it will rain at some point so as long as you are prepared and don't let it bum you out then all is well!
