scaryclaireyfairy
I was definitely more miserable by the end of '07 than '10. I don't want to deal with either again though. if we have to have a wet day, I'd rather the weather gods rescheduled it for the Friday. It's way easier to take when there are acts on. Thunderstruck
It will be interesting to see the Met Office update this lunchtime, I think the coming weekend has good agreement, with higher pressure building from the azores to settle the weather down. After this there are a real mix of outcomes: 1) The high pressure builds over the UK producing warm weather and clear skies 2) The high pressure develops across the UK and is centred slightly further east producing southerly type flow and heatwave conditions 3) The high pressure doesn't strengthen and cooler conditions return from the west with showers/rain Judging by the met office forecast they think option 3 is likely - but there's a real mix of outcomes at the moment. Thunderstruck
Just now, The Nal said: This is the forecast from yesterday - no mention of this high pressure strengthening...I'm of the opinion the forecast is still split with everything to play for! "Generally unsettled weather will be focussed on southern and central parts on Friday (this friday), with fairly frequent showers, heavy and thundery at times. There will be some generally drier and brighter weather too, which should become more prevalent for the start of the weekend, when most places are likely see fine and dry weather. From Sunday and into the following week, unsettled and breezier conditions look to return. Bands of cloud and rain are expected to move across the UK, interspersed with brighter, showery conditions. The most frequent spells of rain are likely across the northwest, whilst the southeast should see more in the way of drier weather. Temperatures will generally be near average, but perhaps on the cool side at first, and turning locally warm in sunnier spells."

stephos83
This is what the BBC have said in their updated Monthly forecast issued this morning: Monday 20 June—Sunday 26 June Typical British summer weather There will be a real mix of weather during next week with some warm and sunny weather but also outbreaks of rain and fresher winds. At the start of the week, the trough of low pressure bringing rain during Sunday will continue to affect many places on Monday and Tuesday. It will also become warm and humid in the south. Fresher Atlantic air will follow on Wednesday and Thursday with rather cloudy skies and some outbreaks of rain, most persistent and heaviest in the northwest. A ridge of high pressure will again follow from the west late in the week and over the weekend bringing drier, warmer weather once again. The highest temperatures and best of the sunshine will be across England and Wales. If this is the case, it will be good news for the festival goers heading to Glastonbury at the end of the week, an event traditionally linked to heavy rain and lots of mud. Sounds hopeful - most of the negative in that seem to relate to other areas of the country? Seems the site will suffer some rain this week, which could be a positive given there's been so little - hopefully just enough to prevent it being a dust bowl by the time we get there (no more!) fur_q
Bit less agreement between models this morning, but nothing too horrendous, I think we're still looking at best at a very good festival week and at worst a north/south split with the south getting the better weather. Some models going for a small band of LP passing through during the festival but this would only likly bring a few short showers and move off pretty quickly, but not a huge amount of agreement on that scenario. richroet
The latest weather report from a highly reliable source states that there will be heavy, prolonged rain for the whole of the festival localised over The Nal. In addition there will be a short but significant amount of rainfall over Croissant Neuf on Saturday from 4.00pm for appoximately an hour. Flash flooding is possible in the area should The Nal turn out to be a Travis fan. The rest of the festival will be pleasantly warm and dry with the odd early morning shower to keep the dust down. mazola
2010 was hard work, but no where near as hard as a muddy one. The weird thing about 2010 though was how cold the nights were, easily the coldest nights i've had there. I think it's something to do with no cloud cover keeping the heat in. I don't think there was a cloud in the sky all week Edited June 13, 2016 by mazola

Thunderstruck
Met Office still going for option 3! Although they do mention this in the context of further south and east being drier. On Saturday most of the United Kingdom will be dry with sunny spells, although eastern England will continue to be affected by some showers. From Sunday and into next week the latest indications are that unsettled and often windy conditions will return from the west, although there is a fair chance that much of southern and eastern England will be dry and bright this Sunday. In general bands of cloud and rain are expected to move eastwards across the British Isles, interspersed with brighter, showery conditions. The most frequent spells of rain are likely across the northwest, whilst the southeast should see more in the way of drier weather. Temperatures will generally be near average, but perhaps on the cool side at first, and turning locally warm in sunnier spells.

I don't think there was a cloud in the sky all week For me, 2010 was an amazing festival whilst I was there. Sadly I made the school boy error of only taking in liquids of an alcoholic nature. This meant huge dehydration from Monday morning for following week which saw me not able to get out of bed. Even having said that, one the best weekends of my life. From where I'm sat this year looks to top 2010 weather wise, if only because you're getting wall to wall sun but not ridiculous 30 degree heat. Looks to be a nice cooling day time breeze too. I'm gutted not be going but I sincerely hope everyone has an amazing time.

uscore
It's like FA Cup Final day. It never rains. On the times it does, you are allowed to spend all day talking about how it NEVER rains on that day, isn't it confusing.
