I've just driven home in Bristol through a 2 foot deep flash flood :umbrage:

I would have thought the site will be fine. all the dranage in there will take the water away, let's face it it drys up when we are all down there. Mostr areas traffic are not allowed on and everyone sticks to the roads. come the weekend thoughand you will have thousands of workers decending so let's hope we do not have a "Nal" then as that will chur n it up.

I'm working out is this Sunday or Monday is best for me to go and Pitch up. both looking ok though :)

Was feeling fairly positive until looking at the webcam, when I was then filled with dread.

I can barely remember the rain in 2014, I do remember the mud though and having a small breakdown walking back from the SE corner one night, across the pyramid field and up to woodsies. My wellies were suctioned to my calves, my thighs were knackered. I could barely get my wellies off when I got back to my tent and then I vowed to get a pair for walking boots for the next year.

I was in woodsies and on the friday the walk back from the park took a good 50 minutes or so in the mud. Got back to the tent to find that a latecomer had put their tent right in front of our tent door. Was struggling to get my mud covered docs off, effing and blinding. Woke up in the morning to find the side of their tent absolutely covered in my boot mud. Serves them right for camping in the stupidest place.

General concensus of the forecasts is that it'll be raining on Weds morning and then early Fri morning

So we're getting pissed on walking in and setting up and then just when that mud starts to dry we're getting another belt of it.

Super.

The rain falls hard on a humdrum town

Oh, the rain falls hard on a humdrum town

Oh, no, and everybody's got to live their life
And God knows I've got to live mine

It's strange, but even though I've never seen the weather be so on a knife edge this close to the festival (it really could  go either way) it's the year I've been most relaxed about it.  Got a wide brimmed waterproof hat, decent jacket and comfy wellies.  A lot of the stuff I want to see is under cover.  Of course I'm praying for the mud to be kind, but still, not as angst ridden as previously.

From the Standard:

Quote

Revellers have been warned to expect rain when they descend in their thousands on Glastonbury festival next week.

But forecasters say there is a low risk of flooding, with the showers likely to be less severe than those seen in London and across the country over the past week.

Meteorologists are also predicting spells of sunshine during the festival in Somerset, which opens its gates on Wednesday, June 22.

Martin Bowles from the Met Office said: "There's no particular reason why those showers should be the kind of heavy long-lasting showers that we have been having this week.

"It's more likely to be showers that pass through quite quickly."

Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm has been hit by flooding in previous years, but Mr Bowles said: "I don't think flooding is a risk [this year].

"Temperatures are expected to be near average, so it will be high teens, 18 or 19 degrees. Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm has been hit by flooding in previous years, but Mr Bowles said: "I don't think flooding is a risk [this year].

"If it's unsettled it's likely to be fairly windy, but there's no indications of gales or anything."

The "most likely weather situation" is "sunshine and showers, a bit breezy", Mr Bowles added.
