4th time at Glasto....1st time   on East camper van field.

Can anyone offer any advise/help on  leaving field with Caravan....

Especially ways of not getting stuck !!!

you will only only get stuck if it rains. Its not going to rain, so you wont get stuck...

I went in 2007 for the first time (in a hired campervan) and it pissed down all weekend, it was a mudbath..(in fact the problem was that the ground was already well soaked beforehand) There was a lot of angst with people slip sliding away on Monday morning (local farmers with tractors tow people out), but we managed to get off site OK..

I have been from 2009 onward towing a caravan and have had no trouble as yet.. I cannot see it being a huge problem unless the ground gets churned up on arrival and remains wet..

Unless of course i misunderstood your question and you just are concerned about queueing to get out.?

If so, with the exception of one year, i have left site Monday am between 06:00-08:00 and been on the main road within 30 mins.. one year i left on Sunday night (just after midnight) quite a few seem to do this (10-20%?) and again was on the road within 20 mins.. too knackering if you have a long drive though....

dont worry about leaving.. you havent got there yet..  ;)

Fingers crossed  ....one thing we can't guarantee is the weather...

But what we can guarantee is an Amazing time..

Roll on Glasto

What day did you arrive and what field were you put in

Thanks for great reply :)

the last couple of years, we have got there for early afternoon on Tuesday... (we have a trek across the country from Cambridgeshire) 2014, we were first row in E23 and last year we weaved through the crowds in E19 (a friend had held a spot for us).. It seemed a lot more crowded last year, but then they gave E22  up for Glamping (i am afeared that they will do more of this in June... more evidence of the neighbours getting more cash for their facilities)

I love getting there early though... you can just ease into things and everyone there on the Tuesday are just around their vans drinking and eating, its a nice atmosphere..

Regarding leaving... more and more folk are lingering on the Monday in East to avoid the queues getting out (and you get more time there!!).

Last year the stewards didn't encourage us to leave until the late afternoon. The commercial vans, etc start to leave about 6pm I understand so an idea to leave before them...

yeah.. i can get that.. but i take the whole week off work the previous week and have to return on Tuesday.. so i look to leave very early Monday..

that means i have a dry Sunday.. but tbh, given i have been there since Tuesday, i have just about had enough..

Its a 5 or 6 hour drive home for me..

The problem we've had the last few years is that when we've left CV East we have been obliged by police/stewards to turn right when we reach the main road.   That takes us on a 40 mile detour to get home.  Were we able to turn left life would be a lot simpler.

This has been a bit of a pain over the last few years for CV East - I have used a few turning places a few miles downstream - but am only in a small camper so not an option for everyone I guess

I don't know which way you would normally go but if you get forced right again go down wraxall hill( the bloody steep one ) and there's a right turn at the bottom of it, opposite what used to be a pub, follow that road for 5 or so miles( can't go wrong, and plenty big enough for camper/caravan) and that brings you out in west pennard on the pilton/Glastonbury road, then just head out via street to the M5.

not sure what restrictions there may be that day though.
