Benicassim Festival - Saturday only

Hi, looking for some advice booked a holiday to Barcelona and it conincedes with benicassim. Obviously with being on holiday I have other plans but I am getting a ticket for the Saturday only for the festival. Could anyone give me some advice on the easiest/cheapest way to get to the festival and return to Barcelona when the music finishes on the Saturday? Thanks

Well firstly the music will finish on Sunday morning. Muse will finish their set at around 3am, but the music continues on until about 6am. Your best bet is to get the train from Barcelona on Sat morning to Bencassim and get the first train back on Sunday morning. The train times won't be out until May so check then on https://venta.renfe.com/vol/home.do?back=true

Probably looking at between €50 & €60 return.

I get the train from Barcelona to Benicassim every year. It's about a three hour train ride so it's quite far! I'm not sure when the first and last ones are.

Do you ever have any problems getting the train back from Benicassim to Barcelona after the festival? We're doing the same this year and having never done it I'm slightly concerned that the numbers will be enormous! Presumably you can get around that with a reservation anyways?

There's usually a separate queue at the station for reservations and then they come and call out that the train is here or say people with reservations at XX:XX can come through now. And they check your tickets before you go in so if you are pre-booked there is no issue.

Back to Barcelona the latest train is about 8.30pm as far as I recall, so you'd have to get the first one back at 8am or so

Alternatively EU Fest run a good coach service to/from most main cities around Spain. We got one to Barcelona airport at 4am on the Monday morning last year, took about 2 1/2 hours. It departs over the road from the train station but you need to book in advance.

Edit: We also flew out to Madrid and got a bus from their main bus station to Benicassim town. It stops on the seafront which is a short walk to the main town 'high street' and the festival. Check avanzabus.com closer to the time if you aren't going directly to the airport afterwards.

We have never had any trouble as we've booked in advance but I've heard of people who haven't booked having trouble so make sure you book a ticket! We usually leave on the Monday morning at about midday and it's pretty busy but not too bad.
