Wallace
I had arranged to borrow a campervan from a friend for me and my wife for glastonbury however he has now actually sold the camper. I have a ticket for campervan field west and don't know what to do now. I've looked at hiring a camper however the quote I got was £525, is this a common price for 6 days? I'm not sure whether I want to spend that much so was considering camping instead now. Does anyone know what I can do with my campervan field ticket if I just turn up with a car and a tent? Will I be able to sell it and still be able to get a car park ticket? Does anyone know any cheaper way of hiring a campervan?
Funkyfairy!
Thats super reasonable for a campervan for the 6 days ... sounds horrendous but lots of vans are a load more that that. Give back your campervan ticket (someone else will grab your hand off for it) and purchase a parking ticket - job done

Didn't realise I could get a refund for the campervan ticket. I'll consider that but just need to decide first if it's worth paying £525 for the hire. clarkete
Agree, that's a very competitive price. They've tightened up the campervan tickets so you can't sell them on from this year, hence you need to return them I believe to get your money back. grumpyhack
Campervan and motorhome hire prices go through the roof of Glastonbury week as most hire firms are well aware of the peak in demand. £525 seems reasonable. Depends how many you are sharing with and whether you'd have to go out and buy tents and other equipment to replace what you'll have with the campervan. One advantage of CV tickets is that you can arrive from Midday on Tuesday, so you get an extra night at the festival. You can't actually go into the main site till Wednesday morning but you can get settled in on Tuesday, meet your CV Field neighbours and then have a leisurely start and stroll round on Wednesday while everyone else is still struggling to put up their tents Edited April 11, 2016 by grumpyhack

If that's the case and I do get a campervan, does that mean I'm to expect a spot really far from the festival itself?
clarkete
I think that if you're in a solitary van you may be one of the people that the stewards direct to fill up some of the empty spaces which have been left when people set up earlier. They tend to fill the fields Tuesday, Wed, Thursday and then by late Thursday / early Friday there are all sorts of random vans arriving on ends of rows / in between etc --- all luck of the drawer and when they have 'filled the fields' and start refilling I guess !
