South Park 1/2

Hi

just wondering what time these fields fill up? Being realistic I'm arriving on a coach at about 3pm Wednesday (group of 11-6 tents) we don't expect to camp in most of the popular places such as pennards so what are chances of getting in South Park- they seem relatively close considering everything .

have we got a chance of getting there? If not, can you suggest elsewhere?

I'm not sure what time South Park fills up and even though it may not show this on the map it's about as far out as you can get, there will be stewards who can tell you what sites still have space and as you are in a large group I think you will just have to go to where is free.

There is space up there most of the weekend - but they are a fair old trek from Coach at Gate A - a good 45 mins to an hour when you arrive depending how much stuff youve got.

In terms of finding space, it largely depends on the size and number of your tents. I taken a relatively compact 3 man tent and found space in park home on a Thursday afternoon. With two or more tents I don't think you'd have a chance past Wednesday lunchtime in a popular field, but it's always worth keeping an eye out as there's often small patches of space away from the paths.

I was in SP2 last year.  Never fully filled up.  Still a fair few spaces all the way through.  We decided to camp right up against the fence.  Apart from spending all night sliding down the tent I loved this spot.  Amazing view and a doddle to get back tent  compared to Pennards/Dairy - no assault course of ropes, tents taped together (by twats) etc.

A fair old trek indeed from Gate A but we travelled light-ish and did it in 25-30 mins
