Large group arriving over several day

Hi, we are a largish group mostly arriving on Wednesday, but with the lag couple arriving on Friday morning. Was just wondering where is best to camp to stand a chance of getting relatively close together.

The wednesday lot should be ok but  im not holding out much hope for a space for those turning up on Friday. I was think pained ground or South Park but have a feeling it's gonna be tricky!!

You be best to head for bushy, pylon or rivermead. I'd recommend trying to plan so that those arriving Wednesday take the tents for the others and those arriving later take some of the alcohol for the Wednesday arrivals. If this is not possible then those a arriving on Wednesday should try and think a bit about how to pitch tents the tents they do have in a way that will ensure there will be enough space for the later arrivals.

From reading comments on here people have said South Park 2 often has space over the weekend - but as @fur_q says - the best way is to take all the tents in the early group and then the later ones bring more booze or similar to offset weight!  Darble also usually has room over the later days too.

PS - The bit you are calling "Paines" will be renamed as Dairy on the next version of map - the labels are the wrong way round (unless they have swopped them - which would be odd!)

I'm arriving Wednesday and my best friend is arriving on Thursday. I have a tiny and light tent (when packed) and she's going to give me her spare tiny, cheap and light tent to take on my coach with me (I don't take any booze etc so shouldn't be a problem hopefully!).

When I arrive on Wednesday I will pitch hers next to mine and then when she arrives on Thursday she will pitch her better, heavier and slightly more spacious tent in place of the small cheap one she gave me.

It's possibly a bit complicated but I have awful back problems at the moment and wouldn't manage to carry her heavy tent with my own stuff. It means we'll get to camp together though so we're happy.

Yes, ditto to all this. I've had my tent pitched for me once in 2009 as we weren't arriving until the Thursday morning. Glad we did as there wasn't much space left by the time we arrived. You'll find it almost impossible to "reserve" space for your friends, unless you're prepared to stay at your tent patrolling the area with a 12-bore shotgun shouting "gerroff moi laaaannnddd!" at anyone walking past.

Several times, I've also taken a friend's tent to pitch. It is a monumental hassle carrying the extra weight all the way from the car (especially if the weather has turned the site into a bog - or conversely, if it's scorchio), so get them to bring the booze as a 'thank you'.
