How to navigate trolley through campsite?

Hi all,

This might be a really stupid question, but hopefully someone has a bit of advice for me.

I'm going with my boyfriend this year and he has one of those 4 wheel garden trolleys.

I'm trying to figure out how you navigate the trolley through a bunch of tents to get to your pitch? Do you just abandon it on the main track and wade into the fray with your tent to set up, then collect your trolley once that's been sorted and take to lock ups?

With it just being the two of us, we'll need both pairs of hands to put up the tent, and unless we can find a spot that doesn't require wading through a load of already erected tents, I'm not sure what to do with the trolley while we are putting up our tent.

What do you guys do?

Its one of those things you cant decide until you get there - before now Ive grabbed one of a group of people near the path and said "any chance of lifting this over with me in exchange for a couple of beers" - always works - but Ive got a two wheeled one and thats usually on a booze run - so a trolley full of cold beer helps!

once you have spotted your camping spot but can go no further, take it in turns to carry stuff from the trolley, one wait with the trolley and the other one carry stuff over then swap. Put your trolley stuff where you'll be putting your tent and ask a couple of nice neighbours to keep an eye on it until you're back. unload trolley first then carry empty trolley over, put tent up, open beer, enjoy festival :D:D

Thanks both of you for your replies. I've never had a trolley before and possibly over-thinking things at this stage!

If it wasn't for people over-thinking things there'd be very little content on this forum.

Thanks, I will definitely do this - seems pretty obvious when someone tells you but for the life of me couldn't work out what was best!

If you then haven't got room in your tent, or just want to know its safe, drag/carry it (empty) off to a lock up where they will keep it dry and safe for you.

(Obviously dry from the early morning dew, as this will be a dry scorcher of a weekend.)

tun up as early as possible and camp some where where you don't have to wade throu tents

other wise yes you will have to carry  your stuff and then carry the truck

Alternatively drop the fully loaded trolley at a lock up, then just take the tent to the campsite. Erect the tent then recover trolley, get as near to tent as possible and shuttle everthing from trolley to tent. Then return empty trolley to lock up.

This could actually be the winner. Even without a trolley, dropping some stuff off on arrival so we can just focus on getting the tent up is quite a neat plan.
