Exactly. Big football fan. Big film fan. Much bigger glastonbury fan. You'll never catch me watching a film in the cinema either. Nowt against those that wanna watch either really but I know that Slash/Ray Davies was a much better option and I'd stick by that even if we'd won.

That year was before I started going but I certainly wouldn't have been watching the football. Slash, Ray Davies and Grizzly Bear all on during the game :o. No brainer!

I think 2010 sunday was ruined by the football. I was at slash and Ray Davies, but the pitiful crowd slash got was a real shame.

I missed both the music & the football due to chasing a shadow around an ice-cream truck. :( I could vaguely hear both Slash and Ray but it was the hottest year for me, I was melting & couldn't move.

I'd only watch the footy at the festival if it was shown on the Wednesday or the Thursday (2004 was ace). I'd not go out my way to watch it. Glastonbury is less than a week out the year, football is most of the year.

I read that first sentence and initially thought the date had gone well with Magic M's. Turned out the heat was your nemesis.

Actually after reading the final sentence again, maybe my initial assumption was correct...

Think that's only because recently the big screens haven't cos England haven't been on.

I guess that's logically correct.

But trust me, the bars won't be showing it, it'll be a three-line-whip that they don't, it's just too much potential for crowding and jams.

I disagree. I reckon some bars will how it, just on small screens and not advertised.

Well we may see. But the issue is that somewhere starts showing it, word gets out, football fans flock there, area gets crowded, people get angry they can't get in. It's easier to just have a blanket site ban.

(Maybe the crew bars will be allowed).

if England had a scheduled game on Wednesday or Thursday, I think they would show it on screens again.

as it is, the game will be some time from Saturday onwards, and they won't know the day/time until Wednesday night when the last games have finished, so it's too much of a ballache to plan. not least having to organise a field somewhere for it too...

plus then there'd be people whinging about them not showing Scotland or Wales or even NI if they show an England game.

 Love it, coincidently, quite a few of the Magic M's will be making their trip down with me. Although, I knocked them in the head myself years ago when the audio hallucinations become somewhat repetitive and a little distracting. :)

Ah yes, probably was a wise move to kick them into touch (pardon the pun).

What a relief. I'm a huge football fan, but massively regretted missing Ray Davies (and plenty of other stuff) to watch Mesut Ozil dance around us. Early stages of this year's tournament are a bit of a farce. We'll all be home in time for England's standard quarter final failure

Aren't we automatically eliminated from the tournament if we vote 'Leave' on 23rd June?

That's how us leaving Europe works isn't it? Cut all ties and all that ....

Are you going to tell the Russian's they are not in it or shall I?

Maybe but I'd take that sized crowd over recent Sundays at the pyramid, especially with that heat.

That afternoon is one of my favorite memories of Glastonbury, getting pissed up in the heat able to get to and from the bar easily (well other people were for me I turned 18 two weeks later...) plenty of room to laze around in after a hard weekends parting it was beaut.

I did like watching the football on the Wednesday I was all set up by 10am so it was a nice break from wandering around. Anyone know where that panoramic picture is they took of the crowd before kick off is?

I met my partner in 2010 due to the football !

I am a huge football fan but I am not interested in it at a festival.

A big group of us spent the Wednesday morning by Brothers Bar enjoying the sun when people started leaving to go and catch the game. I had no interest and wanted a bimble and she being a glasto virgin tagged along.

Plenty stops off at bars etc round the site and the rest is history !

We will be six years up in a few weeks !
