B-but he's a master tactician Neil.

well, I guess you can't really knock him too much, as he's doing better than LvG and Moyes, and has given Utd their longest unbeaten run in years.

Like all of his teams they mostly play shit, and added to the Utd standard of Utd playing mostly shit (even when winning everything) it's not a pretty sight, but nothing of that is unexpected, that's what utd knew they were buying.

Utd playing "mostly shit" is an odd one Neil. Master of the dark media arts he mightve been but Alec had an incisive and attacking ethos. Lightning quick players. Killed teams.

The biggest issue with us playing that system for me is the lack of control Xhaka and whoever his partner is in the middle have on games. Chelsea and Spurs have Matic, Kante, Wanyama and Dembele - all of who win the ball back with ease and allow the more offensive players more of a license to roam and influence play.

Yeah, bang on. Although I like Xhaka with the ball, off it he has to improve. Likewise, Coquelin is great at winning the ball back, but doesn't have the passing range or speed we need in the middle. This system is definately set up better for the central midfielders we have in the club, but there's much work still to do to get the balance right to give Sanchez and Ozil the real freedom they need to thrive.

Would love to see Arsenal cruise past 'em both.

That's the easiest upvote you'll get today.

is that when they managed the three shots (just one on target) for the whole match?

(I was smart enough to do something more interesting. I was watching paint dry :P)

You're better than that. Shots isnt the only factor that equals threat level.

United didnt start the game parking the bus. They had a similar set up to that against Chelsea, but City's passing dominance naturally pushed the wide men that were causing problems early on far too deep to support Rashford. This meant that United had to resort to longer passes to Rashford which was obviously gobbled up by Kompany and Otamendi. There were a couple of occassions in the space of a few minutes in the first half where Rashford would have been clean through had the pass from Fellaini (no suprise) and (I think) Herrera had been better. These obviously didnt result in shots but were far more threatening situations than the 10 hours of sideways passing that City achieved.

it uses 5 minutes of time rather than 90 mins.  Following my now-standard 14 hour working day, staring at the wall is often better than staring at a bad match.

Rather odd I'd say. I'd read a match report post game -  not text commentary.

14 hour day? Maybe tiredness causes you to make mistakes when posting.

As many questions should be asked why city couldn't break down a limited Utd side. I can't remember de gea having to pull off to many saves.

fergie played many many times like that coming away with a result. A result that is ok for both clubs really, top 4 in both teams hands.

Although I do think it will be more down to how much more Liverpool balls it up.

from the beeb's text commentary and the many punter comments they included, it sounds like you watched a different game to everyone else.

You can be arsed to read BBC text commentary but not the actual game?

And then try to argue a point of view after not seeing said game.

Like I said United didnt start the game parking the bus. As the game went on they obviously retreated into that defensive position.. But to say they went there with the sole intention of defending is clearly coming from someone that didnt watch the game, and has a predetermined opinion that it appears they will defend without needing evidence.

Precisely this. City are more boring to watch than United for me.

Quite. It's really rather odd behaviour. I can't think of another poster who would do that - you have to wonder what the motivation is.

Perhaps it's an obsession about Man Utd driven by the intense rivalry that the club has with Aldershot.

Utd are going for the longest unbeaten run in the clubs history vs Swansea. Going for 25 unbeaten in the league. Mourinho is achieving exactly the realistic expectations the club expected at the start of the season. This season was always about steadying the ship.

And yeah City were poor last night. Worst City season in how long? 7-8 years? Guardiola being found out? They're fairly shit.

they always struggle for a decent result when they play there. Pogba played so shit Fergie was happy to lose him. :P

(that might seem like a joke post, but it's actually true!)
