It was squeaky, but it worked. Can't really knock a plan coming in.

Who was knocking? Observing I think?

Within what was available to them, Mane is a good'un.

I wouldn't disagree.

Isn't the point that Fenway are running Liverpool based on football revenue as opposed to investing any of their own capital?

The objective was champions league via the top 4.

corrected for you, and Utd failed at their target.

I'm not pretending that getting Chumps via the back door isn't an achievement that covers off the impact of that failure, but it doesn't stop it being that failure to achieve the targets.

I don't have much of a clue, but in nearly all cases where an owner claims to be inverting it's a lie anyway. How much have the dildo brothers pumped into WH, and are their personal fortunes growing or shrinking?

My take - tho I could be wrong - is that Fenway are not adverse to investing, but that they don't plan to be pissing money up the wall so they get praised to flatter their vanity.

And my take on last summer's spending - again, I could be wrong - is that they weren't keen to spend on players because of the costs of the new stand along with having identified that they were carrying too many players on the books who were never really going to play. I also suspect that Klopp knew that was the score when he took over, too.

From the reports it looks like Fenway are going to find £50M+ (net) this summer for new players, with only Sakho going out (meaning an £80M+ spend), which isn't fantastic but isn't tight either - and we'll have to see what the final figure is.

The club might get something out of Ings this year too. Fingers crossed for him.

Yup. If they lost that one final match, Utd would have been fucked. If your relying on one match to save you...

Even more pathetic was Jose referring to winning a 'Triple' referring to the charity shield...

Fuck all. They have made a mint out of property development of the Boleyn, as well as juicy 7% loans...

When your competitors either have significantly higher revenues and/or have sugar daddies, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

It's very difficult for me to see a situation where Liverpool seriously compete in either the league or European cup in the near future.

Yup - tho the new stand helps, and another is planned I think. They're trying to get a place where they can compete, but without throwing big bucks at it.

It's hard to say they've done poorly so far, even if it's been a bit up and down. It still looks like progress, and they're a million times better than the previous jokers.

It's gonna be a toughie to stay in the top 4 at the end of next season - tho that applies to all 4 top teams from this year I reckon. It's not like Utd and Arsenal won't be trying to get back in.

I went over the Boleyn at the weekend. Only parts of the West Stand remain - everything else is rubble. Wasn't a pleasant visit.

It's a real shame, the Boleyn was a great ground. Went there a few times (the day we came back from 3-0 down to win 4-3 was a great day) and always enjoyed it, can't say I particularly enjoyed my visit to the London Stadium as much.

Feel the same about WHL going, that was my favourite away ground.

if Liverpool are in the shit for dick van dyke saying he wants to join them if he's leaving, what shit are the club in that Lukaku has openly stated he's already got an agreement with?

I guess it depends if they had permission. Rumours that £87m fee has been agreed.

We will see what happens here. I read that Southampton apparently have a history of doing this prior to selling players. I also read that they apparently want £75m now for him. I think if thats the case someone is going nowhere this summer

Is anyone else getting a Bradford fc in the premiership feeling about this?

I'm guessing its not far off double their ticket sales on the wages of two players.
