Scotland play England and it ends with a crazy finish with a flurry of goals, exchange of leads and ends in a draw and we have barely a mention of it on here? Yet we still have folk going on about Scottish Independence on other threads? Strange altogether.

In my head football season has finished, so I really couldnt be arsed with the games over the weekend. Plus I was out Saturday. The only game I saw was the U20s World cup final - which was a very decent game. Some good players on display. Who knew Venezuela have such good youth prospects?

Scotland won their world cup final.  We have to let them do that now and then, else they get all sulky.

Meanwhile England won the kiddies world cup, and a real one with all the world involved. :P

Wales had a good result winning in Serbia with the team they had out. However their record of played 6, won 1, drawn 5, lost 0 has a look of Man Utd in the premiership.  Its a little frustrating as we have been in the lead in 4 of the games, but not been able to see it through. I think its pretty unlikely we will get to the world cup but playing Ireland (currently 4 points ahead of us) at home on the last game gives some hope if we can cut that gap to 3.

Really hope this decision doesn't cost us. Even their defender said it was a goal!

Arm up though so can see why a Spanish ref would disallow it.

Where do you lot still have to play Serbia, that could be the group decider. I suspect whichever team/teams get through this group wont be making much of an impact in Russia.

I can see why city can't give Joe Hart away.

Sooner Hart is out of the England picture the better. Between Butland and Pickford we have a lot of potential in that position for the next decade or so. I just hope that Pickford makes the right decision when deciding his next move, Everton would be perfect for him.

It`s the hope that kills you :(

Incredible last 5 minutes. Managed to get a couple of extra tickets for my youngest and we had a great day out. Incredible scenes when the free kicks went in. Some noise, place went bonkers.

Have now watched it back and don`t think the keepers were great at all 4 goals.

Don`t even think 3 points would have been enough for Scotland. Another point towards England qualifying.

At home. Gerogia away, Serbia at home, Moldova at home and Wales away.

Agree unfortunately.

Looks like Pickford might well be going to Everton, along with Klaassen from Ajax.

Said before that Everton's the perfect move for him at this stage of his career. Regular football at a big club without the added pressure that comes with playing for a massive club United or Liverpool.

Why. Seems like a good idea to me. Get the Saturday night pub crowd watching.

By Saturday night I'm done with football for the day (unless we've won and I record MOTD). Talk of wanting to compete with the Prime Time market is bollocks because unless they're showing the likes of United v Liverpool, which they won't - it'll more be like West Brom v Bournemouth or something, they'll get destroyed by the likes of Ant & Dec, X Factor and whatever other bollocks they show on Saturday nights these days. And that's before you consider us poor sods who don't want to be searching for the last trains out of Southampton or wherever at 10pm on a Saturday night.

It's a disaster waiting to happen. They'd be better off just screening the 3pm kick offs and having done with it.

They have bastardised the fixture list so much that it makes little difference to me. I can never agree with televised 3pm matches due to potential impact on lower leagues.

I don't think it would have much of an impact on the lower leagues to be honest. Let's face facts, most people who want to watch a Premier league match at 3pm know how to these days and have done for the last few years. Has it made that much difference to lower league attendances? Making them available via Sky/BT/whoever would just be legitimising an already well established practice.

I do wonder if the bursting of the bubble is getting closer. Sky are currently suffering huge losses in terms of subscriptions, as people have figured out they can stream every match for much less, and they aren't going to make them up with a few extra Saturday night matches. They'll be less willing to pay the hundreds of millions required for rights when it comes round again next year, and if they don't, who will?

There's a difference between finding a low-mid quality stream on your PC and it cutting out every so often to spending the afternoon with your mates down the pub. Imagine, you and your mates are pondering buying tickets to the local league 2 match and going along, having a couple of pints at the ground, etc, then it's announced Arsenal-Man City will be shown at 3pm. You could watch that down the pub, have a pint while the football is on instead of only at half-time, save £15-25 on tickets each.

It's not about the people who watch at home, it's about the groups of 4-8 who go to games as a social thing around the football, and will now be able to head to the pub with cheaper and more available beer, and save money on the tickets.

A fair point, but how many of these casual fans do lower league matches get every week? I genuinely don't know but I assume most League 1/2 and below clubs have their core fanbase of ST holders and regulars and not much beyond that. The occasional casual punter, but I can't imagine enough to make a serious impact on their finances. I could be wrong though.

Besides, the big matches like Arsenal v City would never be shown at 3pm on Saturday, they'll always have their own dedicated slot in the schedule - why take focus away from one of your premium products by putting other matches up against it? These days most 3pm Saturday kick offs are the preserve of mid-table fodder like West Brom and Stoke.

Completely agree with you of course. But you have also stated several things that are problems whether they show 3pm games or not.

Exactly what is wrong with top level football, more emphasis on the people who don't go to games rather than the fan who goes.

I think we're about 25 years beyond the footie authorities caring about that now.

"Fan who goes" = 50,000 people vs a possible television audience of hundreds of millions.
