Advice re: hifi setup

Hi all

I've recently moved home and I want to take the opportunity to do something I've always wanted - get a sound system with speakers in every room! (there are only 3 rooms so not as extravagant as it sounds) Trouble is I have no clue what I'm doing and only a limited budget (could stretch to a few hundred quid all in). I thought I'd ask the good people of eFests - I'm sure someone here will know about all this stuff.

What I would like is a system that plays CDs, DAB radio and preferably vinyl, and wireless speakers that can be turned on and off individually, all controllable with a remote (or even better a smartphone). Not terribly fussed about sound quality as I've never been able to tell the difference, and there's a baby next door so wouldn't be turning it up loud anyway.

Main restrictions are the money, and the fact that I can't drill/screw/cut/stick anything as I'm a private tenant. I also have an incredibly limited amount of space so couldn't get anything huge. Preferably one of the speakers would be waterproof so it could go in the bathroom.

So, what do y'all think? Can it be done?Any recommendations?

Thanks all

Hi Dave,

I used to work for a custom AV installation firm doing all the multi room AV.

For your requirements i think you will struggle to find anything under a thousand. Sonos is a good, reliable system but for three rooms probably over budget. You'll need to add speakers too.

Holy fuck, I thought 300 would be pushing it but didn't think it would be that expensive! What's the bit that's pushing it up most do you think? Thanks for your help.

it's your want of CD, DAB and vinyl players within the price.

You could put together a system to play MP3s from a computer to wireless speakers for that price, including control from a smartphone.
