Plus he got the biggest cheer of the night! I thought Thom at Latitude w/Portishead was brilliant, I was front row at the barrier and thought it was fantastic. Along with the rest of the performance. He lost interest around Kid A but I stayed with them, even if I wasn't sure of their direction. I imagine that many of those who got into the band post 2001 could never fairly judge the merits of Pablo Honey. As debuts go it was pretty solid if uninspiring. The Bends however was a serious improvement and, imo, is their least patchy album. That is why it gets top spot. The order from top to bottom is more an indicator of number of patchy tracks on the album. OK Computer and Kid A are both guilty of having some real highs and the rest filler. I could never understand the hype behind OK Computer when The Bends was so superior. Loving your work. I was in my early 20s when Pablo Honey came out and was a big fan of the band, those songs represent memories from my life, a time when my kids were being born and raised and I was starting out in life as a grown up, The Bends was a similar soundtrack to those years and for many years was, in my mind, the best record they ever put together (In Rainbows has since topped that). If you don't recognise that songs like Thinking about you are among their greats and would rather elogise the merits of pulk/pull I say fair play to you, I bet you wear a polo neck and carry jazz vinyl around the town centre (cover side out, natch) as well. russycarps
The problem with Thinking about you is it's the song that inspired coldplay I believe

Also gotta love the Radiothread- Portishead,Peat bog men, Avril Lavigne.
