Just now, hurdy said:

Holly Herndon was ace at The Roundhouse . Would like to see her again .

stupidly got very drunk and delayed before the gig so ended up missing her :( although i'll be going to both the Manchester shows on my own so i'm sure no such tomfoolery will be taking place this time round

Did you listen with headphones?

I just stopped being so impatient. It's a bit like Exit Music in that way, you need to let it run it's course and you get the reward in the end. I think I'd been guilty of switching off too early in the past waiting to skip Treefingers and listen to Optimistic

Let Down's still better though.

It's very similar in that the song goes very loose and almost collapses before the big moment where is all comes back in together. HTDC has more tension to resolve because it goes more discordant, but Let Down resolves better with the double vocal thing.  It's a tough call, Let Down narrowly loses to me, but they're clearly cut from very similar cloth, compositionally speaking.

Is this a real setlist?

Edit: No Reckoner?! It can fuck off!

Yeah, Let Down has that whole thing where it almost sounds like it's winding down, about to finish, then the drums kick back in and the Thom-on-Thom duet builds to a crescendo. The last chorus is just unbelievable.

Not just winding down though, almost collapsing. It goes very loose, almost unbearably so, you just yearn for some kind of structure, or coherence...or harmony, then BAM, a Thom in each ear.

i haven't seen it live in person so can't really comment, but just like Burn the Witch needs strings to be perfect live, Let Down needs Ed to sing the harmonies along with Thom. maybe they/he thinks he can't do it justice, but from the recordings i've seen it just doesn't sound as amazing as it could

You need to clone Thom.
