Thanks, the second half (from National Anthem onwards) would be the greatest hour or so of live music ever seen.

Hopefully Thom or one of the lads are reading.

Unreal. It has made me realise that there'll be so many I'm dying to hear that they won't play. Like Airbag, for example, I have no faith in that being played.

Not that I won't be pleased with what they play. It'll be superb, but there's going to be a good handful that you pray you'll hear.

Superb shout. I too would weep at heading The Bends. Weep from every orifice.

That guitar section when it goes crazy towards the end too. Amazing!

It's the one song I'd chose to hear them do. I've seen them three times and they've never played it for me

Excellent taste both. Let the orifice weeping commence.

I'm actually not too fussed about what they play as long as In Rainbows is well represented BUT I would frigging love the song The Bends. What are the chances do we think? I would weep at hearing those opening notes.

No idea what the chances are but would love it to be played. The Bends is massive live. I could see the set starting like so

Burn the Witch

The Bends

There's only one song I'd really really love them to play and that's Fake Plastic Trees. I love all the others but that one means a lot to me.

Eureka! A man who agrees.

FPT is a very emotionally charged track for me too - there's a reason I've been banging on about it.

I guess I should finally have a go at my own 22-song setlist, which is probably halfway between reality and wishful thinking.

1 Burn the Witch
2 There There
3 Airbag
4 The National Anthem
5 Ful Stop
6 Lotus Flower
7 2+2=5
8 No Surprises
9 Identikit
10 Bloom
11 Street Spirit (Fade Out)
12 The Numbers
13 Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
14 Everything in its Right Place
15 Idioteque

16 Present Tense
17 Paranoid Android
18 Nude
19 Karma Police
20 Creep

21 Pyramid Song
22 Fake Plastic Trees

That said, (and forgive double posting), that setlist could change on a dime. As a non-chinscratcher, the must have ones for me are FPT, Idioteque, There There, Present Tense, EIIRP, Creep and Let Down I guess. No Surprises and The National Anthem too.

Of those nine, I could only get FPT and Idioteque and I'd happily let the other twenty-odd songs be true chinscratchery.

As a new watcher of this thread since getting into Radiohead after their announcement I would like to say hello. I have Michael and Emily to thank for making me listen to them properly as I had always struggled to have the determination to dig into their albums. Do you guys think that they are particularly hard to 'get into' compared to other bands?

Also need some help convincing my friends, that are also coming in June, that it will be awesome. Any tips from you guys who have had to convert some doubters?

Attack in something like this order:

  1. The Bends
  2. Ok Computer
  3. In Rainbows (could swap 2 & 3)
  4. Kid A
  5. Hail To The Thief
  6. A Moon Shaped Pool (swap 5&6 if they prefer loud guitars)
  7. Amnesiac (actually I've absolutely no idea where this should go)
  8. The King Of Limbs
  9. Pablo Honey

A lot depends on their tastes.  Do they like the sound of a 'collage of sound'?  Then listen tot TKOL earlier.  Do they really like Kid A, but wish it was a bit jazzier?  Then boost Amnesiac up the running order.

But most importantly, do not forget:

9. Pablo Honey

Just realised, you were probably looking for 2 or 3 songs to play them, not a running order of albums.  I'm afraid lists are somewhat in the blood of this place ;)

Yep songs were preferable but albums are still useful! They have definitely enjoyed the bits of the Bends I played them, songs like high and dry, just etc. But if I try and give them something like myxomatosis (the song, not the condition) its back to the classic 'depressing sound' criticism.

Edit: 9. Pablo Honey

You didn't say they hated Myxomatosis.  Basically what you need to do is take a stop at the service station on the way down for some food and whilst they're eating, creep back to the car and leave.

You don't need friends like that.  Fuck 'em.

I've calmed down now :)  Have you tried Paranoid Android?  That's quite a good gateway song towards their more avant garde stuff.

I have a similar reaction when they say it don't worry! I think this is going to be my best bet, they did say they liked Idioteque as well so I don't its just that they'll never like it, there is hope for them yet

I'd still keep Plan A as an option if they don't come round by June.
