Radiohead Headlining 2017

Amnesiac is their most underrated album and Gagging Order is their most underrated b-side. I really can't see why Amnesiac is generally thought of as one of their lesser albums? Bar Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors, I can't really see a weakness, I even enjoy Hunting Bears, and Life in a Glasshouse & Packt Like Sardines are both criminally underplayed in my opinion

Sardines is a stone cold belter IMO. "I'm a reasonable man, get off my case..." Tremendous.

Sardines is a complete stormer, ye. Gonna have to disagree with you though @theDandy, the recorded Pulk/Pull sounds fucking enormous on a good rig - no idea if it would translate well in person, mind.

There's something just really creepy and sinister about it which doesn't sit right with me when I listen to it, serves its purpose well I suppose, the lyrics are very unsettling

Yeah I love that kind of vibe though. Like bassy/cut/rrrrr bit at ~2:10 goes right down my spine every time and reet tickles ma pickle.

Morning Bell/Amnesiac never really did it for me, the Kid A version is leagues better IMO.

As far as both the "best non album tracks" and "alternative TKOL track lists" questions go, The Butcher fits both for me. Brilliant song and better than all of TKOL bar Lotus Flower and possibly Bloom for me. Shame they don't play it live, would sound so good with multiple drummers.

Good chance of us getting an OKC era b-side/unreleased track imo. Ed was talking about playing Lift recently.

I think that clip was edited out of the Matt Everitt interview back in October, so not a recent interview unfortunately.

That being said, I think there's every chance of one of those tracks being played on the upcoming tour. It wouldn't stun me if they release Lift beforehand as a single to promote the release.

Remember after tKoL when everyone was convinced there'd be a surprise tKoL volume 2 announcement because Separator includes the lyrics "if you think this is over then you're wrong"?

I wouldn't give much credence to the split rumours. After a while every band gets these rumours so someone somewhere can say they knew it all along when it inevitably happens. Maybe it will happen, but I doubt the band are warning people in code.

True love waits, last song on a moon shaped pool; now OK computer dusted off with bonus tracks.

All looks a bit final?

God, I hope not.

Where do we go from here?

Ed will do his solo album. Thom and Phil(ip) will probably do another album each. Jonny will soundtrack everything  Paul Thomas Anderson makes, amongst other projects. Colin will do whatever Colin does.

They'll probably make another album...or not.  But I feel fairly sure there will be no 'split'. They just won't ever reconvine, and one day, many years from now, people will shrug and agree that Radiohead don't seem to be a thing any more. Band members might even admit as such in interviews. They just don't seem the types to do a dramatic breakup.

That was my thinking, I reckon if anything they'll go on hiatus which may or may not be indefinite. They don't seem the kind of band to put a "Ful Stop" on things, if you will.

That's what happened to ABBA. They took a break, expecting to go back into the studio at a later date, but that date never came. They only realised they had split in hindsight. They thought Chess and the solo albums were a hiatus at the time.

I think people were saying it looked like they were clearing out the cupboard with the songs on AMSP, I recall Mardy saying it at least.

If they're throwing the like of Lift away with the OKNOTOK shit then yeah it probably doesn't seem like they're gonna do another studio album. They'd wanna keep it otherwise wouldn't they? (I'm guessing this is what GQ dude says, I didn't read the article). You could probably tell from my proclamations the other day that I don't have hopes for LP10 to really add to their oeuvre anyway so it's okay by me - would prefer they explored other ideas.

I agree it doesn't seem like them to officially shut down though. Last show being in Israel would be pretty grim.

I came across this old article - http://www.stereogum.com/1785919/30-essential-radiohead-non-album-tracks/franchises/radiohead-week/ - and realised I've never got into non-album Radiohead, despite loving all their albums (except PH). So I'm having a Radiohead b-side listening party today. Any recommendations for their best non-album tracks, or those that they have a reasonably good chance of playing in their Glastonbury set?

What do people think? I've been pondering it myself lately. It could certainly be argued that it seems like they're clearing out their vaults and tying loose ends.

It's been said after every tour/album cycle since '04.  One of these times it'll be right.

When I saw the track list for AMSP I did wonder about clearing out their desk and sloping off.  The flip side is that they couldn't release the old stuff til now cos their old record company owned the rights.  It seems the songs belong to the band/XL now so they're seeing the light of day.
