HOLY SHIT! Neil I could kiss you.

Feel well and truly shit for the Radiothreadders without tickets. Y'all need to make some sort of supergroup where we can all help you out. But it does mean you'll get to pack 8 months worth of excitement into 2 when our hyperorganisation inevitably pays off :-)

Right, time for an idiot question.

I've always thought TBC was lower than SR in terms of likelihood.  Have I been reading the lineup page wrong for the last couple of years?

Yes. Strong rumour means there's just a rumour, but one usually with truth behind it. TBC means that efestivals believes they're definitely playing, and are as good as confirmed.

I'm sure Neil has caveats to add to that though.

the only caveat is that I can never know with absolute certainty (unless told by an Eavii) because the only real confirmation of being right is when the festival announces it.

It's always been the case that I had to fully believe it to be true, but nowadays - for a Glasto headliner - I'm also wanting at least two excellent sources.

Are you mad? There's a higher concentration of Radiohead fanatics on this forum than I've encountered anywhere else.

It must depend on the circles you hang out with. From my point of view in life, Radiohead are one of the biggest and most talked about bands from the 90s onwards. Everyone into music I meet seems to have an opinion (not always favourable of course, but thats the case with anyone).

I'm always surprised at the diversity of people in my circle who, whilst not fans or festival goers, admire Radiohead. From senior composers of theme music to young hardcore metal fans they have a broader appeal than many of us give them credit for.

The same could also be said of Massive Attack for instance.

if you think Radiohead are more popular than Coldplay then you're mental

It's not clear cut, its tight, but only Oasis seem to be discussed more from my perspective. Obviously I also believe Coldplay are massive too.

The main point I'm making, tho, is that from where I see it, Radiohead are nearly as big as it gets. It surprises me to see thats not the same from where other people sit. But hey, maybe thats the case for all bands (I didn't know Daft Punk were big til reading it here).

I think as long as Radiohead announce a few decent British gigs and/or one or two easily accessible popular European festivals it shouldn't impact on the resale too much. Radiohead have a ton of fans but I don't think there will be a rush of young folk wanting to get Glastonbury tickets just for Radiohead unless they were already planning on going. And if Radiohead have shows elsewhere even less so.

This years' resale was particularly difficult going because of the Adele factor - I think she was a massive headline booking that really swung it for a large bunch of people. Plus Coldplay will always be popular.

at the roundhouse gig i was surprised at how many people in their late teens/early 20's were there, singing along to every word of no surprises. an incredibly diverse crowd.

and also, I don't think video gets enough love - maybe because its not on youtube:

LISTEN to that.

As others have said, the resale will be swamped, it always will be. I'm not sure Radiohead will make too much difference.

Sheeran might make a small difference, it depends on timing. If he releases his next album the week before the resale then there might be a few thousand extra people signing up in the hope of  seeing him.

I would be fascinated to see whether there's a noticable spike in new registrations after a headliner has been announced.

my absolute favourite Glastonbury moment bar non. it carrying on long after everybody had walked away from the Park and slowly trickled off in their own directions was just amazing

So ... who's keeping score....?

I'm currently on two excellent proven sources who have told me Radiohead are headlining, and now I'm also up to two with the unproven-tho-I'm-inclined-think-they're-excellent sources (both of whom were insistent they weren't playing in 2016).

Blimey, Radiohead sources falling out my ears. I never quite thought i'd have that. :)

You tempted to do it as a news story or has the coldplay story still made you want to avoid that
