I’m still kicking myself for getting that wrong twice in 2023. First I should have left Arctic Monkeys for Hot Chip as they were shite but we were with a load of mates. Then should have left Elton John as we were too far back and not feeling it, should have made the effort to move to QOTSA or Phoenix.
To be fair that’s Exhibition Park, so logistically you could have events there simultaneously to the Hoppings on the Moor, I guess (subject to no objections by council / police etc which they probably would given Hoppings is a rather large event).
Given the Hopping’s had to downsize this year due to the top end of the site being rendered completely unusable by a festival that was 10 months prior (which in the end didn’t even go ahead), I’m surprised Crow Events haven’t had something to say about Come Together being a few weeks before… I’m guessing it will utilise same part of Moor as the Hoppings, so hopefully it doesn’t ruin the ground if bad weather as I quite like the Hoppings despite it being chav central!
But I concur, glad to see more summer music events.
Agree that the Common People thing does feel like a tap in - maybe they see as KOL as a significant get (which it is really) and wanted to tease that one out.
Madness would be a poor headliner for where Victorious is now tbh. Though, as much as I like him, Jamie T was a bit of a weak booking last year. If they've gone all out on KOL then maybe they need to balance out with a weaker headliner one day.
