I'd say we're veggie 90% of the time, but balanced out by things like the venison shanks I've got for tomorrow :P

Two of my fav REM songs on that album, Near Wild Heaven and Texarkana. Refuse to accept its that old though!

Glad he was nice HMV, I'd imagined he would be and I'd hate to have that crushed!

Yeah, it's strange how some 'famous' people can be different in real life to how you expect. One of the nicest people I've met at glasto was John Robb. Reading his articles, or watching him on TV, you'd think he was naturally angry and confrontational, but I saw him up at the Crow's Nest a couple of years ago, and chatted to him about The Membranes, and he was a lovely guy. In contrast, Lauren Laverne was a right snooty cow when I met her, which I didn't expect!

That can't be 25 years old, I'm sure I'm only 19! Eek!

The gin fest was disappointing. It was basically just a pub selling gin. Lots of different gins admittedly, but the queue for the bar was ridiculous, they'd run out of quite a few of the gins in the book we were given when we went in, and it just seemed a bit of a shambles. We had a nice time but didn't stay long. Ended up back at mine, friends have just left and I'm watching Tommy Cooper on tv while hiding from the storm. With a gin.

When I worked as a journalist I used to try to avoid meeting any of my 'heroes' just in case the illusion was shattered.

Oooo love REM and butternut squash

I'd have loved to have seen REM, had tickets and a flight to see them in Hyde park years ago, and 2 days before the tube bombings happened and the gig was cancelled :-( so gutting. Ended up see Les miserable instead

Have a great Sunday all

That's a bugger, but Les Mis is good!

I feel surprisingly ok today, hopefully the hangover won't kick in later! Going to do some high quality pottering, watch a bit of telly and stare outside at the lovely autumnal outsideyness. Oh and I took one for the team last night, went out in a jacket clearly not designed for wet weather, and got r***ned on.

Was grim yesterday, still grim today.  But I have a warm smug feeling for having sorted out my first Christmas present for someone today. Determined not to be in a mad rush this year!

Yesterday's grimness was mitigated somewhat by a 3hr venison shank and port casserole though :P

Chin up for the rest of the week y'all :hi:

Afternoon.  Good to read what you've all been up to over the weekend.  We enjoyed our (nearly) 24 hours in London - although it was good to come home and be back in The Shire.

I thought the name of the train we travelled back from London on yesterday was very apt !

All aboard!

Hi all, will catch up with your weekends at some stage. I have been on holiday, did a little drive around New England in the States.

In other news, I will be handing in my notice at work this week and will hopefully be starting my new job in 2017.

Hope you're all well!

Enjoy the notice handing!  I'm assuming this is a cause for celebration?

Went to see Palace last night on the strength of their album.  Sounded good live, but not the most captivating gig I've ever been to.  Just a bit....dull really.

In other news I had two chaps come round this morning and clean out my gutter pipe with a high pressure hose.  Things are flowing much more freely now...

Well here it has r**ned.  A lot. So much that it was R**n with a capital R.  Public transport here not transporting the public very well at present on account of it.  Just as well I don't have to go anywhere.

Only real news today is that, following second phone call to him, builder has said he will aim to call round in next 10 days to look at our roof and chimney.  This is good news.

Hello lovely peeps.  It sounds like you've had great weekends enjoying cosy fires and drinking gin. So glad your gutter pipe's been hosed out now @Quark.  Ooh New England in the fall @sheffieldlady - was there still some autumn colour?  @trevethin I empathise with the sense of inundation.  Definitely took a hit for the team while shopping yesterday - pavements were more like rivers and my boots and coat are still w*t today.  Have to take youngest the 20 miles to Outreach school each day this week  (that does sound odd - surely they should be reaching out to us?!), so he can do his first lot of GCSE mock exams.  No idea how well he's doing, but at least he's writing stuff and not just shutting down as he has in previous exam situations.

We won a bizarrely random quiz at the weekend. Questions ranged from 'which is heaviest, an elephant or a blue whale?'  to 'where are the world insect biting championships held?'  (Moscow, apparently though why anyone would want to bite insects is beyond me...)

Can we just go to Glastonbury now. I'm so tired of reading shitty right wing shit and need a break. I'm scared and my brain is exhausted.

Know what you mean H, it would be funny if it wasn't true.  At least Farage's bid to be a British Ambassador has failed. And Quark's gutter is now as clean as a whistle...

It is nice to read about someones squeaky clean drains when one first pops on to the forum of a morning!

All a bit Manchester here today, but it is November so it's ok! I'm feeling a bit peeky, skipped choir the other night and will prob do the same tonight. Went to a play last night, "Season's Greetings" by Alan Ayckbourn. Very funny. Reminded me I need to get some shitwear for the festive season.

Morning all

Actually not too manchester here today, yet ! Today is my birthday - and My Dad sent me the following message ' XX years only feels like yesterday you were kicking up doing your own thing and we had been up all night . XX years on and you are still doing your own thing, but I'm not awake all night, unless you're in a war zone or swimming with sharks xxx

mmm now how do I respond to that ! I've been to Bali, London, France and Morocco this year... war zones ? He's so insular , and we will never agree on politics etc and don't even discuss it anymore, but he;s still my Dad lol

(by the way he did know my age and actually got it right !)
