I know I shouldn't be so narrow minded but the fact you are both a chorister and a fetish party organiser/attendee always restores my faith in the world

Not quite chorister, they're both community choirs that I sing in but yes, I do have a varied mix of hobbies!

@Milky Joe not started yet and I reckon you're on about £15! Not sure who is giving you these pounds mind..

@Funkyfairy! What a fab way to get married. I've been with my other half for 9 years or so and we are in no rush to get married, but I do like the idea of avoiding all the complicated stuff of guest lists, flowers etc and just taking it back to how it used to be.

I'm actually spending my Friday afternoon this week at my new job for training. I'm looking forward to the next wedding I attend where I can get asked what I do and I can reply with 'I work in marketing for a company that sells sex toys' it'll either make someone go 'OK' and ask no further questions or they will laugh a lot. The British are very funny when it comes to sex. I've found it makes people laugh, a lot!

@sheffieldlady They literally did the paperwork a few days before then on the day of the wedding they queued in the NY clerks office , took a deli style ticket and queued in line to get married. They said there were 'all sorts' - and brilliant mix of people. the 'ceremony' took 90 seconds lol.

You can buy buttonholes, hire a photographer outside the clerks office so really a one stop. They then went someone lovely for lunch, took a carriage ride around central park, ate oysters in central station and stayed at the Wardorf Astoria - and didn't tell anyone till the next day - flippin perfect !

Mixed reactions though - with some people saying they have 'robbed them of a wedding - eg a wedding guest' - how selfish can you get !

That sounds brilliant! I'm not the marrying sort but I do think that is a wonderful way to do it. So many people get hung up on what looks good, and who to invite, and we can't sit Aunt Maud next to cousin Henry because they'll fight, and have we got the right colour napkins etc etc. A wedding should be about being married, not having a wedding! Sounds like your friends had a great time :) Can't believe some people are cross about it though! Bah humbug to them!

Morning. Just had a read through what you've all been up to for the past couple of days.  You cram lot in !  We seem to have achieved Christmas tree here; we go to a tree farm and wander around to find 'the one'.  It's in the middle of nowhere, just when you think you must be on the wrong road you see woodsmoke from their stove.  Good photo of your tree @oneeye Bruce looks like he's got his priorities right.

We don't have a dog, but do have a cat who is scared of everything and everyone. Cue various cats thinking we run a cat restaurant.  I have told her to sit by the cat flap and hit them as they open it, but she won't.  So I have just bit the bullet and bought a(n eye watering £55) microchip cat flap.  I hope it will stop them coming in - have seen 3 different ones in over the weekend !

Ouch!! Cats don't tend to listen, do they?

Ours was a bit freaked out by the fog this morning. Bless her. She's not good with weather conditions!

Hi all. Spent the day first aid training with a special emphasis on marine & water based activities. I'm now an RYA qualified emergancy first aider.

It's 3 days for the full on qualification so going to ask work to pay for it.

I know it was a bit wet this year, but that seems excessive!

Especially in this thread!

I went to see The Julie Ruin the other night and my ears have just stopped ringing

this is a sure sign of age, also in other news I think my hair line has vanished further up my head and my eye brows are chasing the hair line matching it for pace

Have you reached the point yet where you wake up in the morning and a single eyebrow hair has, overnight and of its own accord, gone bright silver, tripled in length and angled itself at 90 degrees away from your forehead?

They're always fun

oh yes a weekly occurrence

I also like seeing hairs growing out of my forehead, and I think where the fuck have you come from?

then I realise that is where my hair line used to be

I am having a good day.  The builder has been here today doing temporary repairs :) We no longer need a bucket in our loft to catch the rain in, nor should we have smoke from next door neighbour's fire coming through the (now filled in hole in the) flue into our house.  Chimney mending, roof battening, felting and re-slating and firebreak building are on for sometime next year. Am hoping the quote won't be too bad.

@Funkyfairy! sounds lovely, exactly what a wedding should be about, two people declaring their commitment to each other. Not to a wedding industry or for showing off people.

I'm still sat doing little to no work.. because I have nothing to do. I've been planning Barbados and googling. Sadly, they seem to be experiencing a bit of an issue with sewage on certain beaches which is little off putting! Nevermind. There's rum to drink..

Rum is always good SL :)

I've got the classic widow's peak going on Shuttle, and keep finding the little bastard rogue ones in the gaps where hair used to be. Both entertaining and soul destroying at the same time.

Good news on the house Trevethin, fingers crossed the bill's not too painful!

Car's got to go back to my brother in law tomorrow, minor leak in the cooling system but should be fixable.  She's almost at 200,000 miles and this is the first thing beyond wear and tear that's gone wrong, so could be worse!
