Good luck Lucy!

Red wine, Scrooged on the telly, wrapping pressies, and off to watch Rogue One in a bit. A good Saturday all round!

Wish we had time to chill out and watch a film (Scrooged, that is, not Rogue One), but once gumby jr is bathed and in bed, we've got a birthday cake to decorate. He's decided on a pirate theme for his party tomorrow, so we're doing a treasure chest. One year, we'll have some sense and just buy a bloody cake! Wine may well put in an appearance later!

Morning all

Happy house sorting yeti and H.M.V x

Went to see UK Pink flloyd at the local theatre last night. Guys next to us were so into it , but got told off by the people behind for 'moving too much ' ....erm everyone was seated and there may have been some whooping and arm waving .... it's not like we were at the ballet

what has the world come to when watching a gig through an iPhone is acceptable but seat dancing is not

Have a good day everyone

FF

Hello lovely peeps, apologies for long absence.  Glad you're in your new place now @H.M.V and @fatyeti24.  Er, stupid question - didn't you realise how big it was before you bought it?  Love the Lakes.  My school owned a house at Coniston and I managed to wangle at least one trip there every year from age 11 to 18. Hope the cake decorating went ok @mr gumby, and you seem in fine form @Quark. @Funkyfairy! totally agree about the gig. What kind of weirdos go to see a band and sit still? @Yoghurt on a Stick so sorry you're having a shitty time.  Feel free to pm me if you think it would be remotely helpful.  How did the concert go @lucyginger? Will tell you about ours in a mo.

Mellowing with a glass of port contemplating the week from hell we've had,  but hopefully things will be better from now on.  Sparing you the details, lets just say CAMHS are finally taking notice and youngest should actually get the help he needs now.  School and outreach education have been fantastic, and despite all that's happened youngest wants to continue with GCSEs bar 1 subject. He had a couple of crap grades from his chaotic mocks, but got As for subjects he wants to do at A level. Eldest is home from uni, and only brought one load of washing with him.

Our concert was last night.  Rehearsals had been even more disastrous than usual,  but somehow it all went right on the night. Through a member of the choir who knows him, we managed to get Ric Sanders (of Fairport Convention) as our guest performer in the second half, with long time collaborator Vo Fletcher.  They were amazing, a mix of blues, rockabilly, psychadelic.  And really complimentary about us.  We sang at the end while they accompanied us, and they seemed to enjoy the evening as much as we did.  A fantastic end to a shite week.

and today, a beautiful sunset:

Hugs to all who need one, or just want one.

Wow what a brilliant concert you had dizzy! That's fab! Ours went well, it was all xmas songs and for our encore, we did Rudolph the red nosed reindeer again (it was in the first half of the show) but this time we all had reindeer antler headbands to put on! It was very funny! I then had cocktails for dinner so am feeling a tiny bit fragile today, but not too bad :)

Yeti- how big is the house? Sounds lovely! I would love to visit one day!

Hi all,

I went flying yesterday :)

unfortunately it was off my mountain bike :(

Grazed elbows, knee, cut shin from pedal, grapefruit sized swelling on hip and pulled groin.

But bike is ok apart from bent pedal which is good :)

OUCH! Is pulled groin a new kind of fancy sandwich filling?!

Rude girl!  Made me think of pork loin though...  Glad your concert went so well Lucy.  I also ended up with alcohol based dinner after ours (find it very difficult to eat when stressing about our performance, which always has an element of jeopardy), but managed to stave off hangover with bacon and brie rolls.

Sorry you're a bit broken @cornish hick,  hope you got yourself checked out to rule out any serious damage?  All the best for a rapid recovery.

Weather's grey and meh here.  Have collected some red berried branches and ivy from the garden to make a wreath for the door, but can't do anything with it yet as it's all so wet.

Hello dizzymoo,

Thanks for the offer of me sending you a PM, but I / we are curretly in an OK place again. Not being pessimistic but I know it'll not be lasting that long - just enjoying the respite from the constant aggro. Looking forward to Christmas and a fresh approach in 2017. I haven't read much of this thread so hope that you and yours are all OK (same goes to all on here). :)

I went out yesterday to look for holly with berries, but couldn't find any.  Weird year.  What did I expect from 2016 though ... There are lots of holly trees here and usually loads of berries, but this year none.  So I made a door wreath of ivy and tied a ribbon on it !

Long day tomorrow, hundreds of miles drive to visit mother and step father, and then coming home via shops in a town even further away (less miles tacking it on to an existing trip rather than a drive for sole purpose of shopping).
