I started off with champagne as per The Law then onto a nice malbec for the middle of the day which I'm just finishing off. Interspersed with a lovely single malt scotch the name of which I cannot pronounce and some lovely locally product gingerbread vodka.

Just working out what to have next is tiring me out.

Just thought I'd pop in and wish all you lovely NFR'ers a wonderful Christmastime and all the very bestest for the new year and beyond. I managed to get home from work in time for the holidays and then t week has been pretty busy with prepping for today. I've just got rid of the relatives now though and the house is quiet once more. It's time to hit the Kendal Mint Cake Vodka...:)

Oooh I didn't realise you two had been moving up here! Welcome to the Lake District!:D I hope you're all settled in and enjoying what I'm sure is the first glimpse of the sun since you got here! I'm not sure if you're sorted for heating or not but I have 3 or 4 of the oil filled radiators just sitting around if they are any use to you until you get it sorted? I'm only 15 mins or so from you.

Shaun.

Oh that would be amazing if you could. It's getting a bit colder and heating isn't going to be sorted for a while yet as we need to see if we can get gas to the house. Our neighbours have it so big conversion job on the horizon. Can pay in gin and views.

It would be no problem. I'll have a dig around and see what we have. I'm not sure if I'll get them round today but If you let me have your postcode I'll pop them round as soon as I get chance.:)

Belated happy Christmas wishes all and hope this Boxing Day finds you all full and beyond merry. Listening to George Micheal tributes on Radio 2... still days left of 2016 so hoping there's no more. What a bloody awful year.

Baileys, wine and Gin time coming up right now in that order, after hours spent driving the kids up and down over the last two days I deserve it!

Trying to persuade Mr B to do a HMV and Y and bugger off into the wilderness with me and the woofers.

First Christmas for a while with not a drop of alcohol.  I had to do so much driving, fetching and carrying of family members and visits to grand kids that it wasn't worth the risk.  I'm now in danger of overdosing on orange juice and coffee.

Bought the pieface game for our nephew. Mrs Q's 89 year old grandma has just taken a scoop of whipped cream square in the chops.

I love Christmas.

Oh my, I seriously want to get my hands on that cos larks and Hootenanny's.

Lucy gingerooo come and visit for lots of Ginny times with your finger mate. X

Grumpy I'm sure lots of people would be wishing they had been sober rather than nursing hangovers for days. :)

Hi everyone,  hope you're all having a cool yule (though not too cool @H.M.V, hope you get some warmth into your enormous abode).  Congrats on your engagement @djdavejohnson, and glad you're doing ok @Yoghurt on a Stick.  How's it going with the tough decisions on what to drink @lucyginger?  Pieface game sounds fun @Quark.  Warm hugs to all the lovely folks on here in the last days of this shitter of a year.

I've been enjoying slobbing around watching slushy films and eating/drinking only slightly excessively.  Have to save my liver for the onslaught which will commence on Thursday when we visit the in-laws in Cornwall for 4 days of drinking and playing silly  games.  Was thinking about risking going bodyboarding as the sea won't be at its coldest but it looks like the weather's going to be freezing and I only have a summer wetsuit.  Guess I'll just have to spend some more time drinking...

Ahh I've been in Cornwall with my (future) in-laws since Xmas Eve Eve, back up to the Black Country tomorrow! Where in Cornwall you off to? I'm in St.Dennis. The liver has taken a right beating. Currently forcing down a stout which is pretty rough but it was a present so has to be done! More of a pale ale mon myself!

Hope you all had a great Xmas!!!

Not so far from you,  between Wadebridge and Camelford.  I always get lost driving round there as all the lanes have high walls so it's like driving though tunnels with no landmarks.  A bit late to say, but at Rough Tor near Camelford there's a huge starling roost,  and watching them arrive at sunset in their shape-shifting flocks is an amazing experience.  You can see them coming from miles away and it goes on for 20 minutes or so.

Hope your liver recovers soon, and have a great New Year.  I'll refrain from saying 2017 couldn't be worse than 2016, just seems to be laying down a challenge.

That sounds amazing with the starlings, I'll mention that to the Dad in-law he'd love that. I've been to Wadebridge but not Camelford! Looe and Fooey (I think that's how they're spelt) are lovely places in the summer if you've not been, and the more popular St. Ives and Padstow. Hope you have a good one anyway!

Morning All!

How was everybody's Christmas? Hope you all had a great one!

Thought I'd mention that I saw Chic ft. Nile Rogers last Friday at Eventim Apollo - bloody fantastic. Expected hit-filled set, however standout moment of the night was a cover of Let's Dance. It was one of those moments you didn't want to end. Magical.

She did indeed @Scruffylovemonster - I'll have to share the story at some point for the shits and gigs. Thanks @lucyginger, @H.M.V, @Quark - it couldn't have gone any better! Wedding planning has started, and we have a date - 20th May 2018. The countdown has begun.

Oh and I've missed the finbars @Scruffylovemonster & @fatyeti24

Aside from that, any big news I've missed? I see Radiohead are on for the Friday, and looks as though the other Pyramid headliners are just bwaiting to be confirmed. I saw Run DMC have been announced for Isle of White Fest. I've been banging on about them for the last 3-4 years hoping that they will make a Glasto appearance. They're performing again so I'm going to reamin optimistic. Although need a ticket first! :)

Back at work, and to be honest its quite nice to have some normality. Little bit fed up with turkey, gammon and cheese and the freezer was stocked last night with all the leftovers

Must be lovely to get away between Christmas and New Year, its a strange time of year. Hope everyone who gets away has a fab time

@H.M.V hows the new house going ? Is it warmer now, at least in one room ?

@djdavejohnson Many congrats on the engagement

I've got an urge to pop over to Cornwall now

Just had the lovely milky Joe round to donate some heaters.

It's getting toastie in our part of the house. Warm in parts of the house but need to wrap up to go check the views from the balconies.

We've had lots of people coming up to look at the house and take pictures. They have had a yeti waving out of the window at them. It's strange looking out your window and seeing a camera looking at you. Lol

Think you had better get used to that - wait till the summer tour buses stop right outside to take photos' (they do that to someone here I know and she still doesn;t know why they stop lol) - but we take to waving to the tourists in the summer months

Are you planning on opening all year round ? I have a strong hunch we will come up to pay the B&B a visit (any excuse to go on a trip :-)
