I need the recipe for this too! Sounds amazing :P

I used this recipe.

http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/spicy-gingerbread-vodka/

Once it's had time to settle down a bit, I'll give it another try and decide if I want to tweak the ingredients a bit, but I reckon it's a top contender for the list for the meet (along with mead, that is!) :)

Can I nudge checking your cinnamon sticks to the top of your list? If the bark is thick it's cassia not cinnamon and only superficially the same, if you get the proper stuff it'll be sweeter and more complex. It's one of my flavour bugbears

Hello all,

Had a bit of a mixed day today. All started well with three of my four brothers turning up to help me move some heavy duty garden furniture and wardrobes etc from the house we own to the one we are renting, so that we can put our house on the market asap. All was going well until I tried to get one particularly heavy duty timber garden table top in to my car. It just wouldn't fit in the end boot section by about 1cm, so I tried to push the timber up towards the front by about 1cm. The problem was that it was already at it's limit at the other end. The result was that I cracked the windscreen of my car (and not insignificantly so). This event was not just annoying, it was M & S annoying. The reason being that had I just waited for 5 minutes then my oldest brother could have dropped it on to his trailer no bother. So, today's going to cost me. That said, if I had to pay for the labour assistance and transport assistance that I had today it would have cost me much more than a new windscreen - I think (waiting for some quotations to come through and also need to look at my insurance policy, which I only took out last week!).

Hope that everybody on here is happy and well, and that should they be car owners their windscreens are in tip top condition.

Oh bollocks, it's just not my day. Just tried to re-fabricate the wardrobes that were dismantled earlier and they are exactly 1cm taller than the ceiling height. Why am I having 1cm problems today I wonder? I may be able to cut the carcass of the wardrobe and doors down. I'll have to see about it in the morning as I'm just not in the mood right now.

Hope it gets sorted Yog, windscreens are normally covered by an excess without affecting your premiums next time. I lost my CV field sticker that way :-(

I also came across the 1 cm too high scenario with a shelf, after a determined middle step daughter decided she had to have the shelf installed even if she did chip a big chunk of the ceiling off. Hormones at 11.30pm ain't pretty.

However, on a more important note - did your new registration numbers and photos get accepted?  If so, have you had the 'Unsuccessful' ticket spreadsheet updated with the new details? Let me know if you want a hand with that.

NFRNFC y'all! It's a bit like Summer in Scotland out here in Leeds today (ie dreecht). Have to go, and see you all soon.

Hello carlosj,

Good to hear from you. Yes, I need to look at my insuance documents and will do so in a while.

Yes, I managed to take a photo of my wife without telling her why, and she took a photo of me without tellig her why she was taking it. I then sent it off to Glastonbury and they have sent me two new registration numbers against our new address. All good I thought to myself. Then, last night, I decided to tell my wife that we'd got new registration numbers from Glastonbury, and that there were some very nice folk on efests who had offered to help us in th re-sales. I informed her that it would be great and that she'd have the opportunity to see Radiohead live there. Unfortunately her response was not one that I had expected. Her response was to say that she didn't want to go, citing that it would be way too expensive just for her to see one band. I pointed out that they'd be other bands too plus having the craic with friends etc. She said she'd rather go to a smaller festival or two at lesser expense than Glastonbury would cost us (our drugs bill alone for it is scandelous!).

I'm hoping to talk to her about it again later, to see if she may have softened her perspective on it, but don't hold out much hope. I'm not too fussed about seeing Radiohead but really want to get to the efestivals meet up to see everyone (who turns up) off these boards. Boo hoo! I may have to ask her brother ( who she doesn't get to see as often as she'd like because he lives in a different part of the country) to apply some pressure on her. Time will tell.

Ouch Yog, not the best day by the sounds of it :(

Today hasn't panned out much better, but may do so in the end. I was quoted a cost of £400 parts and £80 labour to repair the engine of my campervan on Friday. However, a friend said to get second hand parts myself from a breakers yard he knows that specialises in Ford Transit's. So, I went there this morning and picked up replacment parts for only £40. This was a major result as far as I was concerned, especially as I had lined up a mobile mechanic to fit them for £70. This would represent a saving of £370, which would easily offset the windscreen on my car renewal. However, it turns out that I also need new seals and the mechanic and breakers yard said I could get them from a Ford dealership. When I just rang up my local dealership they told me that they do not supply the seals only and that they come as a package with the new fuel injectors (which, as I siad cost £400 new, and I've just bought some possibly surplus to requirement ones for £40).

I'v had a look on ebay and on line for these seals but cannot find any for the year and mark of my transit van. I have emailed one company that do do seals to see if they can help, and am awaiting a response. I may go on a transit van forum (if there is one) to see if any other seals could be fitted ie does a mark 7 seal also fit a mark 4 seal. If they do, then I'm back to the land of being happy again.

Are you on Facebook?  There are loads of groups for motorhomes and I bet some will have encyclopaedic knowledge of Transit parts.  They are very helpful on the stuff I've been asking, but that's not Transit related.

Re festival costs, I wonder if people use kickstarter for funding Festival drugs....?
