I used to share a flat with a lady who used to do similar. She used to talk sex to blokes on the telephone presumably while they w*nked themselves off. Anyway, it was against the rules to give out personal details but she managed to give her telephone number to one constant caller by giving it in code. So, he rings her and they arrange for him to call at the house where we were living. Now this house was more of a commune than a series of flats because nobody locked their doors, people just wandered in to each others flats willy nilly, and one bloke was growing a lot of marijuana in the cellar. Actually thinking back, one lad there used to regularly get free entrance to Glastonbury because his band played there every year it was on. Can't remember his name or the name of the band now. Anyway, this bloke turns up to this hippy type house in a suit in a top of the range mercedes-benz car. It turns out that he was a leading banker with an Irish bank - and was about twice the age of the woman in the flat (it's flooding back to me now - she played on a Chumbawamba album and was studying music in Birmingham).

Anyway, this bloke regularly travelled the world with his work and took this lady to New York, where he wooed her and she agreed to shag him, and did. So, this bloke used to come up from London every weekend but the 'relationship' eventually petered out and he stopped calling, but they kept in touch every now and again by phone. Then one day the lady in question phoned his home and got the surprise of her life when another girl from the hippy house (me and my then girlfriends home) answered the phone. She had just started shagging him, and then he started coming back to the house /. commune. Then one day my girlfriend said that the bloke had said to her 'your next'. I was tempted to swing for the fucker next time he came but my pacifism remained true so I bit my lip. Anyway, the second 'relationship' then petered out and we saw him no more.

I've just remembered - the original music learning lady also used to write erotic stories for other women to use on these sex lines. One day she met her boyfriend (another bloke than the banker) at a hippy vegetarian cafe in Digbeth, Birmingham, and accidentally left behind one of her sex scripts. Apparently she'd put a lot of work in to it, but was too embarrassed to go and ask for it back.

I've occasionally wondered if I should do this sort of thing to make spare cash!! Not sure I'm brave enough! Which is silly really, given my history of fetish clubbing etc....!

Anyhoo, Morning all! It's Friday! WOO! Bit manchester here but you know, it is February!

Its bonkers and easy. I'm actually quite a prude so if i could do it. Granted it was about 20 years ago. Gotta love the 90's. So many hazy memories.

I can only imagine it being the sweariest gin-fuelled chatline in history

You wouldn't be far wrong. Had different characters all based on people i thought were arseholes. So it was kinda like my mortal enemies were getting fucked by bellends and I picked up a juicy cheque at the end of the week. :D

This sounds like brilliant therapy! And everybody wins.  Hope you had a good birthday HMV.  The secret room's a bit creepy-sounding though.  Why would someone want to board up a room that just had gas bottles and paint tins in it?

Great stories on here this week.  I was at uni in the last year when you could live on the grant (yes I'm afraid it was that long ago). I had a brilliant time and acquired Mr Moo and some lifelong friends, but nothing that made me employable.  Though the latter would have been impossible as I'm probably constitutionally incapable of working for other people for long, hence have been self-employed for much of my 'working' life.  The one useful thing, though I didn't realise it at the time, was a questionnaire called Gradscope,  a psychometric test to indicate what career was suitable.  I was studying environmental science, so was surprised my results showed I'd be good at social work or similar.  Rubbish I thought, why would I want to listen to other people's problems?  12 years ago I finally found the job I still love - as a  counsellor.

Agree Ben!  I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and the 'City of Stars' song is still going round in my head.  That really was Ryan Gosling playing jazz piano too.

Have you recovered from your madly busy week?

Ah yes Q,  but I'm afraid it doesn't pay the bills!  Counselling is like a pyramid selling organisation.  There are a few people at the top who make a decent living from providing training and supervision (both compulsory requirements for counsellors to be able to practise).  The actual money comes mostly from trainees and paying clients at the bottom of the heap.  There's a bit of paid work funded by employers, which I benefit from, but it only covers 4-8 sessions, in which I'm supposed to work some sort of miracle.  Recently I had a client via this route who'd witnessed a horrific traumatic incident at work (which was barely mentioned in the referral information).  When I asked her if she'd had any specialist support for post-traumatic stress she looked at me oddly and I realised I was supposed to be that support!

How's your career search going?  You may know about it already,  but someone recommended a book called 'What colour is your parachute' as very helpful in finding your vocation.

Yeah all good thank, dizz!

Such a lovely afternoon with Mrs B. Going sugar cold turkey tomorrow as I've not been a good boy of late. That plus an 8 mile run should set me back on the True Path®!

And the number on top of the hill after the party was properly old skool Hollywood and SOOOOO good. Not in anyway twee. I'm not convinced they'll get the actor/actress gongs as I'm not sure it was that sort of film (though they were both brilliant), but I'd be very surprised if that's not Best Picture.

It just made you feel happy, didn't it?

:)

Ben
