I don't think that's likely, tbh. If it was a proper trial, the nurse would not have known whether it was a placebo or not.

That rather depends on the level of blinding, Marc...!

It's unlikely, but not impossible, that the nurse was unblinded, and therefore knew whether or not the intervention drug or placebo was being administered.

I've been involved in running trials where I was unblinded. It was then not me that recorded the response, as I would have biased the observations. All about how the trial is designed...

I've spent a relaxing and very enjoyable day planting vegetable seeds in the greenhouse (for eventual planting in the allotments) and a couple of fruit trees in the mini orchard I'm creating at the top of the garden.

Something rather mind-blowing has happened.  A couple of weeks ago I gave the Headteacher of the school which my youngest hopes to go back to a special message of thanks to read out at a full staff meeting.   It was a way of making it more widely known how much I value the support certain teachers have given, which has helped my son and undoubtedly kept me from going insane.   One of them told me today that he's really been struggling with his own problems and knowing how much he's been able to make a difference for my son has helped him a lot.  He became a teacher to make a difference,  and I became a counsellor to do the same thing,  and because of my son we both got to do this.

That sounds great Dizzy, a nice bit of Karma right there!:)

Well today is a good day for me, it marks the half way point in my trip away and I can now start counting down the next 4 weeks until I return home to my family and by which time it will be almost resale day!

Quality stuff there Dizzy.  Everyone comes out of something like that feeling good :)

Ooh, what are you growing?  My patch is all prepped so it's time to start planning the planting, always nosy about what other people have got going on!

Went to the career workshop doodad up in that there London last night.  I can't decide whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's basically validated what I was already thinking.  So part of me feels like I didn't get full value from it because it's a lot of what I've already thought, but at the same time if a different process throws up the same results then it suggests I'm heading in the right direction.

On the definite plus side I got talking to one of the other attendees, and she's done loads of work in the past in social gardening with organisations like the Federation of City Farms & Gardens, so exchanged email addresses and she's pointing me at some areas to look at.  Exciting times!

Hopefully I won't need to go down the medical experiment route to make ends meet while I'm training

I planted Sweet Corn, Beetroot, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Aubergines, Tomatoes, Broccoli,  Butternut Squash and Courgettes yesterday in the heated greenhouse. Peas and Beans will be planted out in the allotment in a few weeks. Early potatoes are going in next weekend if the weather looks ok. I grow old and heritage varieties whenever I can cos they taste so much better.

Nice, that's a good old selection you'll have on the go then!  We've only got about a 4sqm patch so won't be quite as extensive as yours :)

Gumby's on fire this afternoon!

Pretty sure that we'll be going for courgette, strawberries, tomatoes, french beans and salad / rocket. Haven't decided beyond that.  Possibly raspberries, and maybe runner beans as I like the flowers!

I like runner bean flowers too! I like runner beans too. My folks grow them, they're soooo yummy! I've grown tomatoes, strawberries, french beans, peppers and I think corguettes before. My old flat had a big south facing balcony, so I had a good crop! And some excellent sunflowers :)
