Been a bit of an apathetic downturn over a long period of time and not had positive things to share, but after months of effort MrsCJ has some treatment planned for her ailments and I have a new job and can leave the management that I don't want to work for. @dizzymoo, @Richard Waller, very warm handshakes in what's going on, and others that I've missed over the past posts. That is all x. Hi Carol! We've missed you. Nice to see you back and great news things are looking up, but sad they've been so down. What's your new job? Are you excited about it? Bless you x my job is a sideways move into the HMRC technical side of things and is nearer to home (peeps, I know, but it's not me raising the taxes personally). I am excited as it's a new situation, and is flexible hours so I get to keep seeing the family instead of driving off all over the country looking for other work. I start in mid-April after we have a quick holiday so I need to book those days off in June sharpish. We're looking to come down on the Tuesday now, so it should be a more chilled Wednesday after last year. What are you up to? Any more tropical holidays planned? Work to live not live to work and all that. Family time is so important as we get older. I'm pleased for you! No more tropics for me, it was fantastic but I found some of the holiday makers were a bit snooty for my liking. I much prefer the villa in Spain where I can do what I want, wear what I want and say what I want without being judged! Maybe that's part of the reason I love glastonbury so much! We're all beautiful non judgemental people I would love to get there Tuesday night but the coach probably won't get there til around T time on the Wednesday. Ive tried to find out what time pick up has been in the past but I'm getting nowhere! Last year was via national express and I knew the time so thought we'd be there for 1pm. This year is Seetickets and 2014 times were around 10:30am leaving Lincoln. Not great but at least I'm going!

I used to love shooting and I was pretty darn good at it. In fact, I got a trophy when I was in the Navy. They nicely presented it full of port. That was a drunken night. I am quite frightened of guns so it was a bit scary at first! On my first shot I did a big ARGH but after that is was fine! Quite fun actually, but I don't think I will take up a career as a sniper!!! Haha!

Curlygirl
So after trawling through efests I've found a post saying the coach left Lincoln at 8am in 2015. If it's the same, and of course the sun is shining (that's a no brainer) I should be setting foot on the farm at around 2pm. Result!! Yoghurt on a Stick
6 hours ago, RichardWaller said: Oh no, I'm fine! Was just feeling a bit nostalgic when I wrote that post, got me thinking about about the times and people I've missed and the times and people I should've let go of long before I did. I guess that post was my version of Krapp's Last Tape.. Got wondering in many ways, whether my best years in this or that are gone.. Suppose out of the major festivals, Glastonbury is the only one that you can't be too old for, which is great. But I feel like there are other ways that could kinda isolate you a bit, too reserved, too working class, not educated enough.. Like I said in me first post, always a privilege but never been such a luxury. I have considered volunteering but got mixed feelings about that too.. When I do go, Glastonbury is generally my main holiday of the year and I know it sounds selfish, but I want as much time there as possible to be my own. Can't even count the number of petitions I've signed at the festival, but I'm not the kinda guy who'd be suited to recruiting for that kinda thing. If anything, I could see myself litter picking, I'd probably enjoy that and find it quite satisfying until I walk past the same place a few hours later.. Aye, had a few gaps myself too, been 7 times in 15 years, longest gap being 2004-2010 and after that break it just felt magical. I probably will go again, even if it's on my own. Sod it, just this minute fired off an application for recycling crew. I've always seen Glastonbury headliners as the tip of the iceberg rather than other festivals where the headliners could make or break it. I probably would go every year if I could, but it wouldn't be without its sacrifices. Finally getting my finances into some sort of order to the extent that I was able to afford both, Glastonbury last year and a four day break in Berlin in the September. That would've been unthinkable a few years ago! Didn't even have a passport wither... We've just booked to go away this September to Krakow, return flight and a week in a hotel for the same price of a Glastonbury ticket.. I can see why Glastonbury has achieved a bucket list status, it's so expensive! My visit to Festival No6 was badly timed, not as swampy as last year's Glastonbury but seemed to want to give it a run for the money. Aye, will look at other festivals too but one thing that puts Glastonbury head and shoulders above any other festival is, and I think Emily Eavis has said something along these lines herself... The Park alone is like another festival in itself. From Greenfields and West Holts to Pyramid, Shangri-La, Dance Village and the Stone Circle... it is like going to half a dozen festivals in a week. As for going with other people, I can only think of a few people I'd want to take along who haven't been.. Couple of my best mates are proper festival grinches now, and last year was my wife's first Glastonbury so she's keen to give it a wide berth for a while! After seven festivals and watching loads of documentaries and reading loads of other accounts of the place, I'm still no closer to putting into words what the Glastonbury spirit is. Can't describe it, but there's a recurring feeling I get every time I'm there that I've never had anywhere else and I wish I could stick it in a bottle. I've just applied for recycling crew, don't think it'll happen though. There was a box asking for a person who's recommended you, don't know anyone who's done it. Know a few who've done stewarding but if I'm gonna be stuck out in a car park I'd rather not bother. Cheers, all. Hello Richard, I do hope that you get on to the recycling crew and are able to make Glastonbury again. People do seem to like the camaraderie in that area, and , of course, it's a meaningful thing to do. It would also mean that you are not on your own, as they'll be a load of people to socialize with as well. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. It was a xmas gift experience thing. I spent an hour firing an air rifle at targets and it was fun! I used to have an air rifle, but am anti-gun of any nature now. In fact, I regret buying the air rifle in my youth because the alternative was to buy a metal detector. Instead of shooting the neighborhood up I could have gone out and found 'treasure'. I say that I'm anti-gun (and I am) but I once visited to Cu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam where there was also a firing range. I can't remember the cost but it was very cheap to have a go at shooting an AK47, so I did so. I then tried to bring my spent bullet shells through customs at Vietnam on my way to Singapore. It's a good job the Vietnamese customs discovered them because on the plane I discovered it was a real no no to bring even spent shells in to Singapore! And a deer stalker hat and magnifying glass. We had a drive through Exmoor when on our honeymoon in our campervan. It wasn't a great day weather wise but it was a lovely journey. We have just (last night) put our campervan on ebay for sale and somebody is coming to view it tomorrow. It's given us a lot of memorable times, all of them very pleasant. I'll be sad to see it go, but not as sad as my wife. The only problem that I have with it is that it has no lounge area, because it's got a fixed double bed. We do have an awning for it, but it's a bit of hassle putting it up and taking it down if only staying somewhere for one night. Odd though, as earlier today we both thought fuck it let's buy another house and rent it out and then go travelling all around Scotland and Ireland for a year or so in a campervan. That would sort of be a compromise because if I had the choosing vote then I'd want to fly over to the far east and travel around there instead. Unfortunately my wife has very little if not no interest in doing that.
Curlygirl
@Yoghurt on a Stick do you know what I would love? A book of short stories written by your good self on anecdotes of your life. I cannot wait to meet you in June. X Hello Curlygirl, I kind of do write a book of short stories of my life by posting on this forum. The thing is I can't 'naturally' remember a lot of my life. It takes somebody talking about something on here that triggers a memory. If it's a funny or worthwhile memory I write it down on here. I don't write it down in a me, me, me kind of way, but to entertain people who are bored of reading about how good Radiohead are etc. You'll probably be very disappointed in June (tickets permitting) because although not shy in real life, I do tend to stay quiet in new social groups. The exception to this rule though is when I'm a little drunk and stoned, in which case I can be quite chatty. I guess I'll just have to get drunk and stoned before turning up to the efests meet up. That's what I'm looking forward to most about the festival - well that and the NFR NFC meet up. The rest will be a bonus - as will the fact that it'll be wall to wall sunshine. Looking forward to meeting you too in June. It'll be nice to put a face to a user name and have a chat. Apologies right now if I overdo it before the meet and am completely incoherent! Yeah customs officials don't like that sort of stuff Yog. Of course empty cases can very easily be made into live rounds by people in the know so they are frowned upon just as much. Back in my army days after visiting the range we used to have to line up and make a declaration to the officer in charge. "I have no live rounds or empty cases in my possession sir!" Funny how these things stick in your mind.
