I've just been to Bristol and back since my last post. A case of driving all the way there, giving my brother in law a 'package' for his birthday, talking to him for about 2 minutes and then driving all the way back again. It took about 4 hours in total but was OK because the traffic was OK and I just kind of zoned out from any feeling of stress.

Pretty decent in Brighton today. Just had lunch at Breakfast Club, pancakes with streaky bacon and maple syrup.

He is actually my brother in law, but also an old school friend. I first met his sister when I was 17 and she 15, and then we didn't meet for decades, and then we got married. Anyway, he's looking the worst for wear after being on a session of drink until after 5am this morning. I should imagine what I gave him will put a spring back in to his step though.

Have you read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain? A very interesting book in to the lives of chefs. I can't recall any 'reformed' characters in that book.

Hi all. The parentals have defended and we've been to 'spoons' for the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Having Downeys on the doorstep really spoils us! 

Hey @naughtygeorgie that's great news. You need to get him to NFR meet too to meet all the crazies on ere. Thursday afternoon is most definitely my favourite. If GG meet at the Woodsies Thursday lunch then it's a nice walk round to the other side... Avalon/Bread n Roses? Has anyone decided where we're meeting this year?

No I had a previous relationship where I was sort of put in a box and quieten down, told to grow up & behave, frowned up by conservative in laws, bloody awful 10yrs that was!

I'm happy to hear that you are able to be you. I too have found that I can't be what somebody else wants me to be anymore. That, unfortunately, applies to my family. It's a tough nut to crack that one.

Thursday is going to be a serious tolerance challenge for me. Glasto chat have their meet up at lunch time, and I need to go to that to meet the people who got through for us and say thanks. Then there will presumably be the nfr meet, which is a highlight of the week. In the evening, there's a crew party for the recycling bunch, with Michael Eavis, no less. How the hell I'm going to be up to start work at 6 a.m. on Friday morning, I've no idea!

Hello! I'm on the vino and trying to do my nails, but seem to have almost run out of black nail varnish which is a disaster! Those of you who have met me at festivals will know I am a quite colourful person, but in real life I favour black. It's from my old goth days and I like it. But I tend to go for bright leg wear and as of last year, a bright purple and pink furry jacket., 

anyhoo, sorry, waffling! Also bit squiffy! 

I've just skimmed over the last page or so, mainly because reading involves concentrating and that is tricky at the mo! Think I'll go for a fag in the back doorstep. 

Oh and NG, we've all made mistakes with people before, the main thing is to learn and try not to do it again! Lots of love xxxx and lots of love to everyone else too! 

Now I'm definitely talking bollocks! Hoorah for Friday!

Thank you for even responding naughtygeorgie. It is difficult, for me at least, to be so selfish as to actively choose my own desires above those of others ie. my family. You are dead right though, in that if I compromise then I've effectively given my life away so should be who I want to be. And that's me.

I remember, temporarily, losing contact with one of my mates when I left secondary school. When I did meet him again I managed to walk straight past him in a 'conservative' kind of pub. This was because he had turned in to a hippy, in terms of dress sense (he was and will always be a hippy in his head). Then just weeks later he turned up at my parental house (and remember I have first generation Irish parents) in full hippy garb, complete with black nail varnish. Somehow he was allowed to stay the night. Somehow, we managed to spend the night smoking spliffs (using the front cover of Catcher in the Rye as roach material) and talking shite. There were many questions in later days though as to why my friend was wearing black nail varnish.
