As a chef & patissier I can confirm that a bakewell tart is in fact a tart (party case, raspberry jam, frangipan, icing, flaked almond .....but a bakewell cake is an almond sponge with raspberry jam filling, almond icing - you can top both or either with cherry and they'll be either cherry bakewell tart or cherry bakewell cake

Thanks for the correction and detailed explanation naughtygeorgie. I think that I may have had both, but can't be sure. I know that I really like the taste though, but couldn't handle large scale doses of it.

Also, I once visited Bakewell in Derbyshire, and had a Bakewell pudding. It was gorgeous! If you mention the idea of Bakewell tart around there, you get chased out of town!

I have to admit I'm not really sure what cherry bakewell is but I think it's some sort of cake so cake+vodka gets my vote! No good will come out of that Heston stealing other people's ideas I tell you.

All much the same here.  Have emptied the bucket in the roof, it had 2" r**n water in it.  Still waiting for the builder  

Thank you! Bizarrely I managed to take that photo on my phone in burst mode. It was the only decent shot of the lightning out of about 800!

I just found the photo I was talking about from 2010 that I took.

Stop talking about cake! Bakewell tarts are one of my favourites and I have recently put on a little bit of weight that I need to get rid of so I can't have cake! 

I'd like to blame my mystery tablets for the weight gain, but I think it might actually be my mini egg habit. Oops.

I am also hungry and I want naughty stuff but I have none in and I won't go get some cos there's white stuff on the ground outside and I don't like it cos it's cold and slippy so I'll have to have a banana.
