I don't either! I thought we knew these people!!!

Yes I most certainly would. Cream tea done the proper way, then a nice big slice of cake. Lovely. Thursday afternoon ok for you? : )

Sounds good, although I'm likely to be pissed on Thursday afternoon, so finding the cream tea place might be a challenge! :D

I really can't believe I'm going to say this. A little piece of me just died inside but:

@Quark is right.

What kind of fool puts jam on top of the cream??

I was walking back from getting my dry cleaning, suddenly felt a great disturbance in the force. Checked in here and now I know why.

It's weird for both of us.

That's not mayo :spiteful:

Reminds me of a story from 'Clinging to the Wreckage',  bio of John Mortimer (who wrote Rumpole of the Bailey).  When he was at boarding school a teacher found one of the boys in his dormitory w*nking and commented 'you should be saving that for when you're married'.  The boy replied 'I am Sir,  I've very nearly got a whole jar full.'

Sorry

Course I don't mind! Thursday's actually going to be pretty busy, I reckon. My sister in law arriving, meeting the people who got our tickets, nfr meet, William's Green secret sets (possibly), recycling crew party... Maybe once set times are announced, we can see if we can squeeze it in? (Fnar!)

Apart from bacon or sausage ones. That's the only time you leave butter off a sandwich.

That's better, we can go back to disagreeing.

Butter on a bacon sandwich. But not spread. Never spread.

Well, if you're wanting to be all Cornish about it, you should be using Cornish splits, not scones. If you're using scones, it's a Devonshire cream tea, not a Cornish one, so the cream should go on first :)

True bu just saying Cornish Clotted cream needs not be hidden. you can put it on scones / splits / hevva cake / saffron buns for all I care just as long as its cream on the top :)

Yes let's see nearer the time! I'm easy! (Don't!)

As for butter/spread, it's butter all the way. I keep margarine, but mainly for cooking or making sandwiches for lunch when the butter is too solid.

Who doesn't have butter on a sandwich?! OH GOD THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD!

It's butter, cheese, salad, and mayo!

Me :-( I don't like butter on a sandwich .... :-( , infact I don't like cheese sandwiches either - although I don't mind Brie rand cranberry, cheddar is wrong unless it's melted . Am I now banned from NFR :-(

brilliant thread this morning, always always jam before Cornish clotted cream , what all this where they don't give you proper clotted cream with a scone, and it's dodgy thick not clotted cream .... Don't get me started on that

Of course you're not banned! We love everyone!

I'm a fan of a brie and cranberry sandwich. Very yum :)

I cannot believe some of the comments I am reading here, so I am going to set the record straight.

1) Jam before cream. This is undisputable. How do you spread sticky jam on top of lovely smooth cream? Are you insane? Jam first, then slather the cream on top - at least an inch thick.

2) Always use butter regardless of filling in both scones and sandwiches. Margarine is acceptable but not as good as real butter and should be avoided if possible.

3) Hot Cross Buns are eaten as two separate halves, not as a sandwich.

4) The same applies to scones.

5) This is making me extremely hungry.

9) Pablo Honey.

Has anyone got @Milky Joe reg number and postcode please. He did say yesterday he would put a plea out, but not seen anything. The remaining two from our extended group have pulled out and don't want to wait for a secret resale so all efforts are centred around Mr Milky Joe who I am pretty sure I spent a very pleasant hour with at the efests meet last year

I think he's on a flight today back to work, so maybe won't be logging on , so can someone post up his details so I can print them off and have them on my desk ready in preparation. :-)

anyone know if theres any other NFR regulars that we need to try for in the secret resale and are still up for trying ?

Artnoon weirdos! I go to work for 6 hours and come back to mayhem!!

1. Cream before jam. Because jam is thinner and slippery so if the mahoosive clot of cream sits ontop it will surely slide off? And jam doesn't need to be spread and sticks to cream. Definitely with @lucyginger and @mr gumby here!

2. No butter on any sandwiches ever! i prefer a chutney. Butter only belongs on hot things so that it melts.

3. Teacakes/scones etc should be eaten in 2 halves.

4. Ketchup with sausage and brown with bacon.

5. Margarine/Spread is one molecule from plastic. It's just wrong!

6. Lucy Loo! I cannot believe you made such a rookie mistake to say the r word. I'm reeling in shock here.

7. Scruff I can't believe you agreed with Quark. I'm reeling in shock here.

8. Sorry FF, I haven't seen anything from Shaun.

9. Pablo Honey.

10. Hi and welcome new posters. @mjsell congrats on tickets!!!

Bread dipped in the melted lard you've cooked the bacon in you freak.

This is actually the one. Just recently started doing this and can confirm is delicious.

Also congrats @mjsell on scoring a golden ticket!

The best bacon sarnies are where instead of butter you spread the bread with tomato sauce.
