Oh. I see :D

I'll make no comment on the twatishness of the hat but at least you had your hands free for cider :)

Definitely won't need that this year, or I suppose you might need it to keep the blazing sunshine off your face :)

How did you find the disposable ponchos?  Obviously I won't need them ...do they feel sticky on the skin?

My first thought was also of a covering for the ladygarden rather than a twatish hat!

I've used disposable ponchos from our local air ambulance shop for the last 6 years, since my brilliant Orange poncho died, and they've done an excellent job of keeping me and my backpack dry.  I tend to wear floaty diaphanous shirts though, so I keep cool without getting sunburnt, and therefore don't have much skin contact with the poncho.  One thing though - some of them 'biodegrade' ie don't actually degrade, just disintegrate into plastic ribbons.  So don't rely on an old one like I did as the heavens opened and I found myself looking like I'd wandered into a ticker tape parade!

The ladygarden of Eden?

Well Yog, what would you assume someone was talking about if they mentioned a 'twat hat'?!

Hello dizzymoo,

I'm afraid I haven't got a clue right now. For one, I am becoming more convinced that I don't know what I'm talking about. Was my claim of a Finbarr a faux pas? Guess what - I've already forgotten what the second thing was, so can no longer tell you what it entailed.

I hope that I haven't fucked up here. Have had a smoke and don't know where I'm at.

Hope that you are well. :)

I think I'll lay off the computer for a bit, until I can get my bearings again.

My statement by itself was finbarrtastic, but there was a double entendre strewn trail leading up to it!

I'm ok thanks Yog, trying to balance excitement about next month against fear that youngest could monumentally fuck up in his GCSEs which end on 21st June, the day we head for the farm.  Don't want to distract him with the preparations which tend to take over the whole house.  One positive is that we finally got his ADHD report, 10 weeks late, which means he's been able to start medication.  The second day on it, he said for the first time he'd been able to focus in lessons, without the constant thought that he could be doing something else.  I'm quite prone to zoning out, but nothing like that. It's astounding he managed to get anything done.

Hope all is ok with you.

So yesterday we sat in the pub patio under a sun shade in the pissing R..n whilst every one else took cover in the pub.. Now that was our sacrifice to the weather gods..

It would have been a bigger sacrifice if you had stood away from the sun shade!

sort it out old son...

Says he from the blazing heat of... er, where is it Shaun?

Haha, it's the Middle East! But I'm trying to do my bit to acclimatise my body to the baking 2010esque heat we're going to get this year!

Plus I live in the Lake District so don't talk to me about taking one for the team!

Hello dizzymoo,

I'm afraid I'm still lost on the finbarr / double entendre thing. I'll look back at it at a later date.

Will keep my fingers crossed that your son's medication increasingly improves his and your situation.

All the best with the secretive preparations for Glastonbury. :)

What does "half drinking" mean? You'll be drinking the same amount just in half pints? Or instead of double G&Ts, you'll be doing singles?

Wassup, wassup. All the work that I had put off after passing exams is catching up with me so I feel your pain :( The only things that get me through the day are beer, Sopranos and the fact that Glasto is next month :yahoo:

Anyone been to Cambodia? I have that awful expression known as "wanderlust" at the moment.

Not I, have  feeling Gumby has? I may be wrong!

I don't get the wanderlust thing. I mean, I understand it, I don't have it! I like a holiday but I love being at home.

yeah.. Angkor Wat was cool.  i found Phnom Penh to be a bit sleazy.  they gave out leaflets at the airport on arrival reminding you that sex with children is a crime.

Hey @naughtygeorgie  at my first glastonbury I took a full on proper climbing mountains waterproof, it was 2010! Since then I've just taken disposable ponchos that pack down tiny meaning I don't have to carry a bulky raincoat everywhere. I get mine on EBay and no they don't stick to me as I don't wear it all day

I've got a lightweight Tog24 hiking waterproof. Big plus for me is that it rolls up nicely and its little carry sack has a belt loop, so it just sits in th back of my belt out of the way and if I choose to have a lie down it's a good little pillow.

EDIT: the only use it will get this year is as a pillow, obviously. Because it's going to be a scorcher.
