Hello everyone.  Just calling in to pay my respects to the weather gods

I'm back from Spain.  I reckon I'm approx. 75% Cava at the moment !  Holiday was good, daughter practised her Spanish.  I have to say that find it really strange going where I can't read/understand/speak the language.

Have just read the past week of posts. Pleased for those who got campervan tickets, and reassured that I'm not the only one who doesn't particularly look forward to visiting parents. Ours are hundreds of miles away, in a way I wish they were nearer so visiting would be more of a normal just-calling-in sort of thing.

I'm not pissed (in fact I need to drink less and sleep more*), and am waiting outside the after show party for my youngest step daughter as she works at getting into musical theatre. All that dental work mending my clenched teeth sitting through dance pieces is paying off. And the dance moms are quite nice too.

Hi everyone

Just a quick Saturday drop-in as I'm at work (boo), but it's actually not too mental at the moment (yay!).

How is everyone? You should have landed in NY by now I think, Humvee. Have a mega time and enjoy Animal Collective (  JEALOUS! ).

I'm halfway through a weekend on duty and doing OK so far. Spirits were buoyed this morning with the arrival of a new t-shirt - my lovely new Lost Vagueness one from a Kickstarter for Lost In The Festival, a new film about the fore-mother of Shangri-La. Can't wait to wear it at the festival next year.

Otherwise, Child 1 is back for a Reading Week from the LSE, bless him. Child 2 has submitted her UCAS form for Child Nursing (tried to discourage from healthcare, honest!) and Child 3 is applying to a very funky sixth form college that will allow him to fulfill his musical world domination. So all good.

Hope everyone is tickety boo.

glad to see everyone is happy and well ........happy halloween all im missing the best WDA halloween party for years due to having a bladder op so i cant put any stuff through my kidneys and even tho the wife said we could go but she also said i have NO self control so wouldnt be able to say NO ...lol tis true so home we are

My turn today @Yoghurt on a Stick. Arranged lunch with parents for today, got a phone call from my brother asking if he can join us. They've not spoken for a good 8 months since the last blow up, so feels like this could go either way!!

stayed home ....seen some pictures of the party ...gutted but no hangover is a bonus

@carlosj I also need to join 'get fit for Glastonbury 2017'.  My 'master *mwah aha hah* plan' is most weeks to eat little Monday, Wednesday, Friday.  Ho hum. Let's see how that goes.

Daughter downstairs now on piano doing music homework so I've snook onto laptop for a bit.  I've halloweened the house the past hour or so.  I wasn't going to bother; big being 23 and small 15, but it seems she's 15 going on 10 - she still wanted all the Halloween decorations put up and a pumpkin to carve so I've that to look forward to later ..

No drinking in the week and less snacks.. is really boring... but the way to make the walk up to the crow's nest easier.

What a coincidence, lol, we've had pumpkin soup this afternoon. The 17 year old has been full on house decorating. I wanted to do Donald Trump in a pumpkin but decided he wasn't worth the time or energy.

I went to a posh restaurant once for Halloween and they were running a best pumpkin competition for the customers to get involved in. When I walked in with my pumpkin under wraps I was a little taken aback by the other pumpkins that were on the diners tables. They had all obviously bought stencils and carefully cut out the pumpkin flesh so the light from the candles within showed perfect images like this;

 

Then I unwrapped my Hellraiser pumpkin which was a little like this (see below) but, in my opinion, much much better ( I used smaller panel pins, and a lot of them);

 

 

 

Needless to say, some twee little design won the competition judged by the restaurant's owner. I did have a nice surprise though when a waiter came up to me at the table and quietly said that all the staff just wanted me to know that they thought my pumpkin was the best.

i made a 'healthy' pumpkin pie this afternoon, crust is nuts, coconut oil and maple syrup. Filling is pumpkin , eggs, non dairy milk, coconut sugar and spices. 

Does it count as one of my 5 a day .. Probably laden with calories with the nut based crust , but no dairy, gluten or refined sugars ... Surely that's goodish ?  Maybe ?
