Got youngest onto school premises today,  first time in almost a year.  We stayed all of 20 seconds on the drive, but we made it.  Now I just have to work out how to help him tolerate whole days.  But even a few weeks ago this would have been unthinkable.

I missed the bobcat too.  Hope you've all had a great weekend lovely peeps.

Nice photo of you 4 :)  I didn't watch any rugby, or any Planet Earth, not really sure what I did at the weekend to be honest - and now it's Monday again.

Achievement today has been to leave a message on builder's voicemail.  That may sound insignificant, but is the beginning of a game of chess with him which, one day, should result in the roof and chimney being fixed.  All in Devon time ...

Evening all :)

Today I have mostly been bleaching mouldy grout, and replacing mouldy silicon sealant. The one thing that has kept me (somewhat) sane, is the musical output of Messrs Morrissey and Marr. Amazing what you can endure with the help of some good music :)

Excellent choice of music! I need to do the sealant thing, might try The Smiths to help me :)

I've got a quote box stuck in my reply ... No idea why lol

technology ... Blah !

Just caught up on planet earth 2 , the first episode ... Did they say the penguin fields looked like Glastonbury or am I obsessed and hearing things ?

That happens to me too! No idea why!!

I need to watch Planet Earth!!

Hi all busy busy so a quick hello and praise to the weather gods, blue sky in Manchester today - hope everyone is well and DIY jobs are finished.  For some reason I find that The Cure help when painting and decorating (don't listen to them that much but put them on whenever decorating), Motown when ironing, something rockier like the Foo's or Nirvana when cleaning and The Smiths definitely better for picky jobs like grouting - must be the introspection in the lyrics that helps you concentrate.

They did indeed  say that in PE and I've had the quote box too.   Sometimes I need to refresh a bit or click elsewhere until I can get rid of it.

Afternoon all, re quotes on a phone, there is a little icon on the top right of the comment, like a sheet of paper. Click that, and the whole post clears. On a PC, click the cross that appears on the top left of the quote box. Dunno about Macs.

I'm waiting to see how many of us turn up on penguin costumes in June now.

Hello all

Just putting in a brief appearance as I've not been on efests for a while and possibly will not be back on for another few weeks. Moving house is a nightmare and should only be entertained by the seriously unhinged. We've still got loads and loads of stuff to move. It really does seem never ending. Once all the stuff has been moved I've got to paint most of the house and carry out loads of repairs. So, it looks like I'll not get to be back on here for a while. Hope that everyone's OK.

Missing you lot.

Great news on the school progress @dizzymoo hopefully you'll continue to make progress.:)

Ho there lovely folks, how is everybody? I've not been on here for a few weeks, I was away sunning myself in Cyprus over the half term holidays then went straight off to work and found they had no wifi at all which was incredibly rude of them. Back home now for a short while and believe it or not I've been cutting my grass today! I know, I know, it's far too late to be cutting grass but I missed giving its is final cut in the Autumn and as it's been pretty mild for this time of year it had just kept growing. It was a mess! All tidy again now though and the lawnmower packed away for the winter. The leaf blowing starts tomorrow, another job that has been languishing on my to do list for far too long...

Sharing the love for Planet Earth by the way. Nobody can do Nature programs quite like David Attenborough can they.

Thanks MJ and @carlosj.  We drove past the school today, but youngest couldn't quite cope with turning up the drive as there were students still around.  The first time in a year that he's been near the place at a time when he's likely to see people he knows,  so he did ok.

I'm afraid our garden has to thrive on neglect,  which it sort of manages to do as I planted a lot of native trees and shrubs, some in stupid places.  Who knew a wild cherry would grow so huge that its branches would overhang the roof of the house?

Lamb curry sounds yummy @trevethin.  I'm very lazy and mix leftover stew with curry paste.

Hope the move gets better @Yoghurt on a Stick.  We only meant to stay in this house 5 years.  32 years later we're still here, partly because the idea of moving is so ghastly.  Possibly a theme of slothfulness emerging here!

Hope the groutwork went well @mr gumby.  Can't be arsed with that either!  @lucyginger did you have your Friday off or is that this week?  I may have lost a week somewhere.

I've been playing the work of the popular beat combo Radiohead in the car in preparation for next year.  Somehow managed to remain ignorant of almost all their output til now.  Some of it seems quite good.

Thanks dizzy, the grout cleaning went fine. Did some more yesterday, and today's the big one. I need to remove the bath completely, adjust the water pipes and waste pipes, and put the bath back in the other way around. I then need to install a new bath panel and shower screen, which should be arriving around lunchtime. Just need to pick some tunes for today. Yesterday was an Eels and Leonard Cohen day. Hmmm....

Blimey, Gumby!! Good luck!

Dizzy, I'm off on Monday! Very much looking forward to a long weekend. Going to a gin festival on Saturday, what could go wrong?!

Lovely and sunny here today, and very warm too. That may be because I've been running around a lot since I got to work though....

@dizzymoo sounds like you are really progressing well with the school visits, and I hope they continue along the same vein

@mr gumby that sounds like a scary day, good luck and hope it all goes well with some great tuneage to accompany your efforts

@lucyginger ooo which gin festival are you going to. Just booked to go to the London one in February, and do a ski boot fitting and V&A Glastonbury exhibition in the same weekend. Have you ever been to a gin festival before ?

Its good to be back home, skating last night and now trying to knock the bad food and drinks on the head- Birthday and Christmas still to go this year so too many social opportunities in the next few weeks which means I need to get my act in gear in between, but the gym doesn;t look appealing and chocolate looks great ! Determined (!) to lose weight and get fitter for next year - its just the starting thats the hard part !

Spent the day going round various sites where our club could build a new boules piste (boules is the French version of bowls where you throw steel balls on a gravel surface).

We're in a league of forty clubs in Gwent and currently have two teams.  Our aim is to field a third team next season so we'll need more space to construct a bigger piste (playing area).

Once we've settled on a site it will be into helping hump and level forty tons of gravel and chippings to create the right playing surface.
