I have an elderly customer with mobility issues who has the neck thingy which also ties to her landline via a speaker system. If the alarm goes off, they call and speak through the speakers. So I guess there are options out there to diffuse the anxiety a little Mr Hack.

Image result for 104

More problems with 94 year old mother in law.  Only took her home yesterday and Mrs GH always rings her at 9pm every night but tonight no reply.  Panic mode after no response for half an hour so we drive to her house (about 30 minutes away) and let ourselves in to discover her stuck in the loo.and unable to get to her feet.  She'd been there for an hour, which is why she'd not been able to get to the phone.

Anyway, she's all sorted now and tucked up in bed for the night.  And if I'm 104% tired, Mrs GH is about 200% tired

Hello grumpy,

Maybe it's time to get her linked to a call monitoring centre, via a device on a cord around her neck? Then if she's stuck or falls etc then she may be able to summon assistance quicker / at all. Hope you don't mind me just thinking out loud. Best wishes.

Old age is a bastard that's for sure grumps. Like Yogs has said, some sort of simple alert system could be the way ahead, plus some discretely fitted handrails so she can steady herself around the house (and get up from the loo).

Hope you find solutions to suit everyone, Its great that she still maintains her independence with a little support from you and your family.

All great suggestions. My mother in law has exactly this system with the button on a cord around her neck...I think it's called Lifeline. After my father in law died about 18 months ago we insisted that she had some system for alerting us as she was prone to falling after breaking her femur a few years before and now she's in her mid 80s we feared things would get worse. As it happens she's been ok, but she did need it about three months ago. We got a call from the monitoring centre at about 5am one morning to say that she she had fallen but was ok (they were able to converse with her through the speaker on the unit as she was close by) so we were able to go straight round and pick her up. Thing is, the stubborn old thing had actually fallen about three hours before she eventually pushed the button but decided to just try and sleep on the floor until morning as she didn't want to wake anyone up!! Needless to say she got a serious bollocking! :D Anyway, the Lifeline system proved its worth...without it she would have been there undiscovered until my wife got there after work.

Glad to hear you got the CV ticket sorted out mate. Was it Mooro's spare one that you got in the end?

It came in the name of Helen McNair and I've paid for it.  So if I don't get a main ticket I've got problems.

Thanks for the suggestion.  My mum in law has the same system and she had the emergency button on a cord around her neck but I think she got so confused she didn't think to press it. We too gave her a bollocking and I think after this experience she'll press it next time.

Not having a copy and paste function is rather frustrating, especially for this thread. I'm with you in spirit though.

Why have you no copy and paste function Yog?  Even if your keyboard copy and paste keys aren't working can't you do Control C to Copy and Control V to paste? Alternatively on an image do a right mouse click and that should give you the copy option.

Meanwhile here's one for you

Hello grumpy,

Not even the control C and control V functions work. My brother is bringing over a spare mouse soon, so hopefully that'll do the trick - it did last time, but then I broke that as well.

Had a bit of a drama this week.  I was out and about in the defender and stopped off at Warwick services. Got back in the car and when I switched on the ignition the alarm went off. The car started, but with the alarm going off. Also the lights would not work.   This would have been ok, but it was dark, so I was stuck. I managed  to take out the alarm sounder relay to stop the noise but no lights.  Rather than get towed again I decided wait until morning so I could drive back in the light. Seemed a good idea at the time but it was bloody cold and uncomfortable. About 5am I was woken with a jolt as some bugger had reversed into me in an empty services car park!!  Never did much damage to the defender (just bent the ladder slightly). But it must have punched a hole clean through his bumper.

Need to look at what is wrong this weekend. Hopefully not too much.
