That could have been used to hide some details connected to DP, or it could have been used to hide the faker who created the alive2017 site.

So there's a good chance it'll be:

Daft Punk

Radiohead

Stone Roses

This forum's wet dream! I don't believe it because it's too appealing to most of us on here :P

For a second there, I thought you were suggesting either Radiohead or Stone Roses were behind the fake Daft Punk site.

Yeah, the sun said he's headlining, but this time last year they were saying the Foos were headlining this year and not Muse, which implies to me they're making it up when they've got space they need to fill. Knowing a few people who work/worked on those sorts of tabloid pages I know with certainty they do make stuff up out of nothing at all when they do have space to fill.

I've also had word on a few tabloid writers who I should tend to believe because they try not to make it up - tho the named person for that piece wasn't one of I have info on.

I'd say that if anything live is announced for DP then, in light of what I heard of them, that's the time to start believing with certainty that they'll be at Glasto.

If they guessed Barry Gibb was gonna pop on stage with Coldplay in March they're doing pretty well. :P

Seriously though, this 'Glastonbury source' he refers to in his articles has got most things right in the past few years. Foo Fighters wasn't but it was announced a few days after the previous festival and you've called it wrong at that point before and gone back on it but I'm sure anyone would say it wouldn't be fair to pin that to your credibility because things obviously change. It's a horrible rag and all that but they do seem to know some stuff in this particular area so I don't get why you're so dismissive of it.

The Sun (i think?) has reported that Sheeran is the Saturday headliner

I don't think they said Saturday in the article. Not online anyway.

Saturday has definitely come from one direction or another, although i must've got confused as to where

The Sun had no real reason to announce one of next years Glastonbury headliners so early so i don't think they've just taken a stab in the dark with Sheeran. what it means for the Daft Punk info i'm not sure. maybe it's even a case of one of Radiohead or the Roses being the incorrect one, although Daft Punk not happening is always gonna seem like the most unlikely outcome considering they don't regularly tour

We're not sure on that at all, are we?

aye we're still really none the wiser. every time something comes up suggesting they'll tour something else comes along and seemingly debunks it. guess we'll have to wait and see if this alive2017 website turns out to be anything at all

Who the hell asked them?

They can piss off

But seriously if those three are the headliners then I'm going to be struggling to go elsewhere than the pyramid every night. Depends on the alternatives obviously but the only one at risk would be Radiohead I think, as I saw them at Reading in 09 and I don't think they are many of my mates cup of tea.

The Sun might just have been taking a punt based on #WrongEd saying that it's the next festival he'll play once he has some more jams in his repertoire.

Sure but what I was getting at was that it's not guessing, or it's very very good and specific guessing. :P

But still, the Alive 2017 tour has been just a guess for many years now and sadly it doesn't seem to have been proved as much more than that yet.

it will still come down to Coachella for me, that's mid April so I would assume would be the first place to announce anything Daft Punk related. If they aren't playing there then in my mind they aren't around at all next year. Im approaching that website as a fake.

Anyone know the normal Coachella announcement timeframes?

January is where you'll get your confirmation but there are rumours beforehand. But I feel that COS having the scoop on headliners in the past but saying this time, in no uncertain terms, that Daft Punk aren't touring next year is pretty damning.

was announced January 4th last year but LCD, GnR and Calvin were all being talked about as headliners wayy before that (November maybe?) so hopefully similar leaks will happen for next year, although i feel like Daft Punk are gonna be one of the strong rumours regardless of if it's based on anything. we shall see, although the Consequences of Sound guy said they're not booked for Coachella and that was the same outlet that persisted that LCD were reforming last year and seem to be on the money with this kind of stuff

You've got no idea if the "glastonbury source" they refer to is the same source as they've referred to previously.

And from your presumption you've cooked up a heap of bullshit to convince yourself of it.

Believe it if you like. I'm pointing out there's no reason to believe it above and beyond anything else you might hear.

The Sun had no reason to 'announce' this year's headliners even earlier last year, but they did anyway - and they got it wrong.

I'm certainly not. DP rumours come round most years.

The one I've heard this year is from a source who should be right, because he's in the right place to know ... tho i'm still a long way from believing it's right, because despite the position I do know that those in that position do sometimes tell it wrong.

But as was raised yesterday, I had 100% accurate info on DP's last album release long before anyone else, and that came from a very similar positioned source to this one. As I keep saying, it should be right - but it might not be.

After 3 days dismissing the Daft Punk rumours my head still says "no" but my heart is starting to believe...playlists are being created...I'm gunna be so disappointed I know but I'm gonna enjoy it while there's hope.

I'd say that if the alive2017 website proves a fake by not revealing anything at whatever date it was at the end of the month (27th, was it?), it's probably not happening.

I don't know if I am reading into this too much, but if anyone was listening to 6 Music at 9am, you would have heard 'Good luck to anyone getting Glastonbury tickets today' followed by the Top of Hour and then a Daft Punk track.
It seemed a bit out of place with the style of the show - but I thought it may have been a cheeky hint from 6 Music.
