If it helps, I didn't get one this year and didn't felt like I missed out at all by not getting a VIP

Take a look on the clashfinder from last year. On the Wednesday everything except Primavera stage was limited capacity.

Thursday to Saturday only Hidden stage, Auditori and the stages Daypro, Martini and Sala Teatre at CCCB was limited capacity. 

On the Sunday everything was limited capacity. 

Usually not that hard to get in to shows at Auditori nor the shows at CCCB. Hidden stage and the Wednesday and Sunday requires queuing.

Does anyone know what the situation is with day tickets? They are mentioned in the FAQ section but I can't find info on cost or how to buy them?

what are the rules on buying tickets for someone else??  bought mine but need to buy one for a friend, no issues is there with getting in??

Day ticket details will be announced soon. And no problem passing normal festival ticket to someone else in the past.

Looking at Coachella lineup, no one I'd be desperate to bring over. That said, could Guided by Voices be added? They owe Primavera an appearance, after all...

Bon Iver cancelled their european tour due to personal reasons. No news on them cancelling primavera but im a little bit worried

nah the European dates he's cancelled are next month, way before his summer dates. can't imagine him cancelling any further dates

Primavera have warned that weekend tickets are close to selling out. Day tickets yet to go on sale.

Pretty impressive to be selling out already. 

They have now published a short presentation text on every artist performing which facilitates the reconnaissance. Going through the list I discovered a few gems like Vaadat Charigim and Rebuig. Not as many big draws for me this year but the undercard is possibly even stronger and more varied than usual.

In terms of accommodation could anyone recommend the best places to stay? We are a group of 4 and we're looking at AirBnB.

For the last 7 years, I have stayed in or near Poblenou and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

It's a safe quiet area, for locals and by the beach.

Critically, you can walk to the festival which makes a huge difference at 5am when you just want to get to bed and don't want a bunfight over taxis or a queue for the bus.

Almost always, the earlier the better. Consider going via Madrid if you have to.

We went in via Madrid last time; bought the tickets to Madrid for £40 or something stupid, and tried to organise a Bla Bla Car for a couple of months. All of them folded and we had to pay ~£60 for a flight Madrid -> Barcelona. Trains were just as expensive too. Just bear that in mind @zero000. But yes, earlier the better in this case. Same with accommodation.

Unfortunately the airbnb we used is no longer operating otherwise I'd have had a tipoff for a sweet little place for 4.

On the site now you can see the breakdown of who is playing the Forum and who is playing in town on the Wednesday. I said on here that the Weds lineup was bad previously relative to previous years and having listened to all the bands properly, I was wrong. Lots of cracking stuff.
