I wouldn't worry about it being your first go, I know people on here who have done it 4 or 5 years and are lucky to get more than 3 points.

 

as far as guessing the line up, the more smaller lesser known local bands you know the more chance you have of winning because that's where most of the points lie rather than guessing 5 or 6 that could headline
