The queue..

After a bit advice regarding the queue. Normally we just park up and join the queue between 1/2am. But this year some of our group are thinking about sleeping in the car until around 6/7am then joining the queue. How long (roughly) can they expect to wait to get in?

Depends which gate you're waiting at - gate B you could easily be waiting 4/5 hours from experience.

I'm staying offsite this year but would still like to get onsite on the Wednesday by about 11am. We will be coming in through Ped Gate A - what time should we join the queue? Or more importantly what sort of time will the queue have quietened down at A on Wed morning...?

The queue is usually ok by about 10:30-11:00 at Gate A. You're probably looking at about 20-30 minutes to get in, although I've read that some people have queued far less than that. I've also seen for myself that a few coaches turning up at the same time can considerably lengthen the queue, but I've arrived about that time since the last fallow year and I don't think I've queued for more than 30 minutes.

From what I understand, the queue at PGA is nuts until about 10am, then the amount of people ahead of you depends on how you arrival sits with the coach schedule, but you shouldn't be waiting longer than 20-30 minutes. Mind you, finding a spot in the most popular fields will be tricky.

I sailed through A last year - but you could see that they set themselves up to prepare for much longer queues.  Crazy weather etc.

From experience B is consistently bad.  From previous conversations on here D can be horrific, when it f**ks up it's really a nightmare (similar to B :P).  Both suffer from longer queues feeding from multiple directions poorly, if you're in the wrong bit your stuffed.  I get the impression A and C are much smoother - both will be busy, A has additional people from coaches, C has campervan people (not so bad).

Maybe just have your tents in the queue, all join it together, half of ye go back to the cars until 5am, and then try doing a swapover?  Obviously ye'll have to be rambling past a big long queue at that stage, so probably helps if ye are carrying nothing on the way to rejoin so it's looking as if you've just turned up and have decided queuing isn't your thing!

We've always spent the Tuesday night in a local B&B and arrived at the sight by car around 04:30/45am. Always get a relatively decent car parking spot in Orange 32/33 (apart from last year when those car parks were underwater and we were in Pink) and always get into the zig-zag queuing fences next to PGA without any issues. When the gates open it's no more than a 20 minute wait to the wristband exchange.

We arrive in the car parks at about 1-2am, get a bit of shut eye til about 6am then join the queue. Apart from last year when we pretty much walked in and were camped buy 8am (got into Orange car parks just before the cars started to get stuck on the ruts and it closed!) I'd say we join the queue for gate A about 100 yards down from the entrance to the zigzags. From there it's a bit of a lottery depending on how they manage coach arrivals. The year before our mate was on a coach which arrived in the carpark about the same time we got to gate A queue and she was in and waiting for us for about 1hr before we got through the same gate. Other years I'd say we were generally in by 9am - so no more than an hour after the queue started to move.

The lack of pedestrian queues last year was because of  the number of people stuck out on the roads if more people had got in and parked up the pedestrian queues would be far longer some prepared for queuing either in car or on foot .. don't think I've ever had a year when I've not queued somewhere .... but I'm mad and by the time my friend  has triple checked he has turned everything off and checked he's locked the door 5 x ( even with his wife home !!   ) its usually peak arrival time !!
