I think Benitez is a better manager than we could've hoped to get, and Ashley is one of the worst owners in the Prem, but I'm pretty sure a number of the players that we were after going elsewhere this summer isn't down to transfer fees and wages, but location, playing time, and where players think the club will be competing.

Also Compare to the media darlings Spurs who are conveniently given the the excuse that Wembley is causing everyone to raise their game.

As for location give me Newcastle over London any day!

Go for Draxler and Carvalho on top of those two as well. Even Andre Gomes must be worth a loan, right? FFS just pull out something decent.

the more money they chuck at it, the more likely it is to succeed.

Rumour has been floating around for about a day that they've agreed to sell Sanchez if they can land Lemar. It doesn't seem implausible.
