Surely that previous fan-picked other stage headline set list cannot be topped? even if there is some good stuff on albums released since then to bring to the table

will happily go and watch again as they were great, but will need to temper my expectations accordingly ha

Fun Machine is one of the great rock'n'roll songs.

I'd quite happily watch Like Clockwork in full with the big hitters tacked on afterwards.

Likewise. It's possibly my favourite album of theirs. Villains may have been a bit of a step down, but still some bangers on it.

If there was ever a Pyramid-sized Other headliners then I think QOTSA are it. Probably could addend Biffy Clyro to that as well, though they're obviously nowhere near as good.

Alongside the obvious, The Dream QOTSA OS headliner set would preferably include:

- Avon

- How to Handle a Rope

- Fun Machine

- In My Head

- Vampyre of Time and Memory

(the excitement over this has lured me from 'lurker' to 'person who actually posts stuff here' status)

Are you the real Linvoy Primus

Do y'all reckon there will be another album out by next Summer?

I’d certainly hope so, although I don’t believe there’s been any mention of it and i could easily see them just doing the hits like they were planning on doing at Reading/Leeds this year before they pulled out.

We’re they down to do anything else this year other than R&L? I reckon it wasn’t always a one off. Probably planned a whole 2021 tour before COVID and they just let the R&L date stick.

If that was the case, they'd likely have US tour dates and be looking to tail back around to Europe.

It's very like them to pick up a few random shows for a bit of money. They're mercenaries. No hoity-toitiness about logo sizes, touring patterns, whatever. Pay the fee and they play the gig.

They are working on a new album though. Allison Mosshart mentioned it when asked about The Dead Weather earlier this year. Was never likely to be out ahead of R+L but a song debuted wouldn't have been too big a surprise. I assume they'll release in 2022 and properly tour it, with Glastonbury being part of said tour instead of a cash-grab show.

Yeah I agree - as Glasto isn’t a cash grab show I reckon it will be part of a much wider tour.

The most hit and miss band live of any band I love. Seen them 10 or so times and theyve been great half of the time and shite half of the time. Homme can be a bit of a twat and when hes in the Billy Big Bollocks Too Cool for School mood the gigs are generally shit.

But when theyre good 💥

As much as I love QOTSA, after seeing them so many times, I'd much prefer to see Desert Sessions headline. That would be ridiculous fun.

I don't think Desert Sessions even play live, it would be a nightmare trying to get all of those musicians at the same unless they are going to play  just the one volume.

Just in case anyone needs some fuel thrown on the fire; this performance is largely responsible for me getting into Queens of the Stone Age, and festivals really:

A friend of mine came back from Reading 05 and showed me this clip, tight then I knew that I wanted to see the band ASAP and be at Reading in 06

It wouldn't be in my top 20 songs of theirs now but I always enjoy revisiting this clip.

I think they've only played live a couple times but it would be wonderful if they did a few large one-offs, based on the availability of artists. Realistically PJ Harvey, Matt Berry, Mike Kerr, Stella Mozgawa, Jesse Hughes, Mark Lanegan and maybe even Jake Shears could join the QOTSA lads for a session at the Big G

Why’s Badly Drawn Boy playing with them?

Agree

When Josh just turns and plays to the other band members like the audience is an inconvenience vs proper front manning it, completely changes the vibe.
