Nope.

It would remain united in policy terms - but with NI having no say. (not sure the DUP are going to have that!).

[ amusing point to all those people who screamed that the UK had to bend because it was the one who is changing things, will you now be saying that the EU is not allowed to change any policy from now, cos that would be the EU changing things...? :P]

But it says nothing about "the single market" or being under the ECJ, just that the UK agrees to mirror regulations from there.

Problem 1: it needs the EU to agree to a 3rd party regulator, which the UK has always said will be required and the EU have been saying no-way.
(the UK are right on this one. It doesn't work any other way anywhere).

This is actually the UK turning the screws as much as the other way. It's the UK saying, 'if you want sense, it has to be sense from you too'.

Hope somebody is keeping a list of all the bits of the UK that want. "regulatory alignment" with the EU. So far I've got Northern Ireland, Scotland, London, farms, banks, universities, healthcare, Grimsby and Cornwall.

Is a third party regulator part of that deal? cant see any reference to that.

that just shows how insane the SNP are.

The reason why Ireland might retain some of it is so that things on a single island work the same and not differently.

So rather than being "impossible" for the UK govt to deny Scotland, it gives the most solid of reasons for why Scotland should be denied.

If they could join up the dots they'd maybe be dangerous.

Insane is harsh. Why shouldnt the NI model apply elsewhere? Politically, its a hard sell for May?

Firstly, ask yourself *why* there is that 'Northern Ireland' model.

Cos it gives a bit of a clue to the appropriateness  - you know, the "practical" she talks about - of similar between Scotland and England.

(and i notice Sturgeon wants to talk about power, but not the power that indy has to make everyone in Scotland far poorer. Funny how she never wants to talk about that part, not even when talking about another ref)

Brexit Solution

London, Liverpool, Manchester, Scotland, Gibraltar and Northern Ireland to remain in EU.

Brexitland to leave the EU.

(Parts of Brexitland may vote over time to join the new UK in local referendums, as Overland Territories.)

example number one of how to make even the most rabid of brexiteers look sane...? :P

So no Single market or CMU (In practical terms) for Scotland they have to suck it up and shut up?

from the standpoint of the UK govt, Ireland is a special case, because of it being an island.

That goes beyond the GFA, to stretch into Stormont having rights over corp-tax - because of the physical closeness of Ireland.

There's also the fact that both sides are (in theory) prepared to bend to accommodate the other.

None of these things apply with Scotland, and having different regs on Britain is the very opposite of the sense it is to be the same in Ireland.

 Right on Q!

Now Ms May will most likely regret the day she did a deal with that lot!

The devil is in the detail - or perhaps few devils at all.

The deal offered to the EU was no regulatory divergence on a list of particular things.

We've no seen that list of things to know what it covers and what it doesn't, but we've also not seen any attached conditions on the UK's side.

For example, it might want a commitment from the EU for no divergence either - which would cover almost all of the DUPs concerns in one easy go.

so after spending weeks saying how important it was to have an irish solution because it's special case, now everyone is saying it's no special case and the same should be allowed to everyone.

Nope im saying we should stay in the SM and CMU. No problems then and even better, we wont fuck up the economy!

But surely if that is the UK govt aim, shouldnt they have told the DUP?
