Nope im saying we should stay in the SM and CMU. No problems then and even better,

i think it's pretty much a universal view that that's the worst outcome of everything.

we wont fuck up the economy!

True. We'd just be handing it all to the EU for them to fuck up.

It might be a practical solution, but it's an arsewipe of an idea.

Yep the devil is in the detail alright

I wonder what is all says. The rumblings out of Brussels has got the DUP all worried by the looks of things. Seems like May didnt chat to her Government partners before heading of for that lunch and chat eh?

Who knows?

For all we know this could have all been sorted last week, and Tusk's words to Leo were the first part of the "no one looses face" play.

I mean, we all think May is a fuck up, but a decent politician could have played this well, so that all the leaders come out smiling, and all the internal angles in the UK are covered off.

If May's going to do a deal, and that deal is something most people can stomach (even if they think it's far from perfect) - and it looks like it might be (if it's the same regulatory alignment is whole UK) - then where does this leave May and the tories...?

Instead of being the catastrophic tories who can't do anything, they'll be the tories that have delivered a brexit the country can live with when everyone was saying it couldn't be done.

Gonna be interesting to see how that comes out in the polls.

but have been quick to make a stand around that headache. :P

Is how you may see it.

May should not have called that election.

She defo should not have done a deal with the DUP

But ultimately Brexit should not have been put to the people. (Utterly ridiculous to think the public can get their heads around it when the politicans cant)

But hey, NI is part of the UK and Brexit is the UKs baby. We will look on and hope that you can tidy up your shit.

Calling the election was a sound strategy. She should have cleaned up, and been able to marginalise the head bangers. Instead, it made her able to do very little.

As for the DUP, I don't like them, but the tories have as much right to do a deal with them as Labour do with the SNP. Voters in NI count too.

And Ireland should never have had a ref on Lisbon? Or is that different? :P

A country gets the govt it deserves, and while I might not like that govt there's at least the chance to change it. If people aren't allowed their say, that's at an end.

tidying up our shit might be finally offloading NI a hundred years too late.

You ready? :P

well yes. Maybe.

Or it could be a bad deal which favours the EU and the economy tanks.

Oooh, wales wants a word

that's the same word as the DUP, in case you didn't catch that. :P

So, no one thinks Ireland is a special case after all, and have  - again - shown they'll say any old shite if they think it furthers their want of staying in the EU. And they say the brexiters are morons. :P

I've just thought of one major thing which isn't likely to be in what May has agreed - and that's 'free movement' in the way it operates today.

Cos while people will still be able to freely move over the UK/EU borders, they're going to lose their right to settle & work in the UK.

Just one of many ways it's obviously going to differ to SM/CU.

Well lets see if that IS what the EU has agreed.

The irish PM got what he wanted though, so he has played it well

the wording gives away it's something lesser than SM/CU - else it would have referenced SM &/or CU.

no, he hasn't got what he said he wanted. A lot less.  He's got something he can sell without losing face.

Which, it looks like, everyone might have, to some extent. It depends how much what's agreed might impact in the UK's freedom to do other things.

Depends. The DUP sound.... not in on it

There's all sorts of possibilities for that one.

The most obvious is that it's not asking the DUP to change anything from now. How can they not object to now but object to the same in the future?

She could go for broke, and ditch the DUP for a brexit vote by challenging Jez to vote for brexit or to vote against the many.

Or she could threaten the DUP with resigning, and making clear they'll get less of what they want and not more if she's gone (which is probably true in any way you stack things up).

Oh, and they've not had a penny of the fee yet, either. That can be re-dangled.

Maybe but the DUP are taking a very hard line on the proposed deal. I dont see how THEY can back down now.

And if its true they didnt know about it? Thats hardly competence on Mays part, is it?
