Great Pearl Jam-news today.

I guess there will be a younger headliner on friday to attract the teenagers/early twentiers .. Would someone like Kendrick Lamar (playing in Belgium in february) or Kanye be possible, considering their tour dates?

I think they'd both be too expensive considering we already have Pearl Jam (Kanye at least). I would LOVE Kendrick to headline but maybe someone like The Killers / Editors / 30 STM is more likely.

To be fair, last year I was struggling to stand up on day 4 of RW.

Might have to choose some sunshine this year.

Just really want to see Nick Cave, it's causing me a dilemma.

Been to both last year, so I can do a comparison if you want to.

Both are among the best festivals in the world, and it really depends on what you're looking for.

You've been to RW so you know how it is.

NOS alive is a more complete festival experience. You create better friendships there, feel more the local culture. It's also sunny yes. If you like staying at campsite instead of hostels, NOS Alive is the obvious choice cause it has the best festival campsite in Europe (4 star, woods, swimming pool, party, pool party, supermarket, you can stay in bungalows also) for the same price that RW's The Hive. So the human experience at NOS Alive is better.

The timetable is better in Lisbon. Concerts start at 6pm, so the night puts a lot of magical vibrations, making the crowd a bit louder. Indoor stages are very different. Palco Heineken (aka Sagres) is very small compared to The Barn. The Barn can be more sensationnal, but Heineken can be more adapted for bands like Royal Blood or Cage the Elephant this year.

I've prefered Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Royal Blood, Cage The Elephant at NOS Alive, but I've prefered Kodaline at RW.

RW always has the best line-up but NOS Alive 2017 is the best festival I've ever been to, with RW2014, for very different reasons

So if I could give you an advice to choose, do an introspection. If you're just looking for a maximum of epic bands, choose RW, if you're looking for a transcending human experience, choose NOS Alive.

Think to tourism as well ! Also you can stay one more day to enjoy the World Cup final in a pub in Lisbon on 15th July ahah!

Killers or Editors aren't that popular in younger age groups, I'm afraid. I see them in combination with Nick Cave on sunday. Could be a band like 30 seconds to mars, but may be they're a bit too alternative to get the "youth movement boys and girls" over there.

Yeah, I'm just not sure who the pop headliner would be tbh. Haven't seen any indication of Kendrick doing any festivals so far, Bruno Mars & Ed Sheeran are already confirmed for different Werchter fests. Last year, the poppiest day was Arcade Fire / Kings Of Leon with more "younger" artists lower on the bill or on other stages. Maybe we could see something like that?

Nicer weather vs. an extra day of music! The million dollar question!

Was Werchter not hot last year? When I went in 2013 it was 35°+ every day and it was unbearable waking up in the tent drenched in sweat.

I've been 3 years now. 2015 was sweltering, 2016 was a complete washout and 2017 was cloudy and rainy (but not as bad as 16)

Oh was it widely known? Haven't been following til today...

Yeah pretty much. I think there was a list floating about a month or so ago with all the shows releases today on, so when all the rumoured festivals started teasing out an announcement today then it became obvious what was coming. For some reason Pearl Jam’s European tour plans are usually pretty transparent.

Just realized that I haven't seen a single one of the acts announced so far before. That's rare for a festival. So excited!

I saw two of them in the last two weeks. Qotsa and Gorillaz and twice I'm very happy to meet them again in Werchter.

So you're gonna see Pearl Jam for the first time, lucky you.
