They had a huge crowd at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes in 2008, which I recall because some people in my school year as a local to there went. More surprised they didn't book any other big outdoor shows like it between then and their initial disbanding tbh.

That was a Project Revolution show (some weird spelling..) with Jay Z as support, a day after his Glastonbury headline show. He has since said it was one of his worst ever shows and wish he didnt do it. Also on the bill were Pendulum and Bravery and others. Wss a cracking day. Was perched on the banks at the back having a great sing song and then somehow getting back to Milton Keynes for a coach to London.

A load of dates for Jack White next year. UK/EU to come and June is free 👀 🫡

But why would a UK radio DJ (BBC6) play the premier of the new song, tease the tour til May if the tour doesn‘t include the UK? Doesn‘t make sense. Maybe they squeeze in some stops in January?

Doesn't feel realistic that someone who has always actively wanted to play the UK & Europe would skip the continent entirely on a new album tour.

Presumably Huw was referring to the dates he'd seen (ie those) when he said May. Don't think his statement suggests that there won't be any further dates, so wouldn't be a surprise to see 10-20 UK/Europe dates added for June+July.

No doubt, but if Huw mentioned the tour til May, he didn‘t see the UK dates yet. So this might still take a while. So it still leaves the question why Jack White would choose the UK to world premier the  new single with the tour leaving the UK out for now.

Ah no point worrying about aspects like that.. Could be any number of reasons.

For example -

He's signed a big money deal with Festival XYZ to headline, and they have first dibs on announcing for the UK/Europe at a predetermined date in the future.

Because the UK/Europe dates aren't until next summer, they were the last to be arranged and some of them aren't locked in yet - and so waiting for the list to be complete before announcing it.

He's got something special planned, and wants to give it a dedicated announcement once the dust has settled on the "main" tour.

Now obviously I don't know (or even have cause to suspect) that any of those are correct. But I don't know they're wrong either, and that's why I'm not going to overthink it.

I expected dates that complied for a UK/EU festival run.

I see Dizzee Rascal has really suffered from Cancel Culture.

Better time lines than expected but definitely out of this one. I think that rules the majority of this out of Glastonbury. I'd have took Reytons.

Reasonable points and most probably we are looking at June with festivals sprinkled in. But that sucks. Was hyped for a proper headline run yesterday. Festivals, announcement tactics, contracts for leaving out certain areas due to festivals means very few headline gigs. Still looking forward to it, but feels like a let down at the moment.

I'd be very surprised if he's not one of the acts Werchter have signed on for their big 50th celebrations.
